If you missed the beautiful SpaceX launch from the Cape today (I went fishing and didn't post a heads-up.) you can catch Act Two on Sunday. They plan to launch 10 Iridium Next satellites into polar orbit from Vandenberg AFB on Sunday. Liftoff for that one is 4:25 pm Eastern (1:25 pm Pacific)
You can watch replays of today's launch on YouTube. They reflew a used booster, and landed it again on a barge. To fly it yet again, presumably.
Go SpaceX!

I took the time to watch today, Now if only they could have gotten a solid video feed from the first stage and the platform ship. Frozen video of the platform and the next frame update it had already landed. Missed the best part.

That ALWAYS freezes. I assume it's damn hard to keep video running and directional antennas aligned with a roaring rocket landing a few yards away.

We can put men on the Moon but can't keep a terrestrial video link intact? Actually I suppose making pretty pictures of first stage recovery is not a priority for the program. Still to an embedded computer fan bringing back the first stage is the really cool part though the going up part is spectacular.

The barge is stabilized but still bobs around when the seas are rough, so keeping linked to the recovery ship or to a satellite (whichever way they do it) would be tough. Add in the tremendous blast from the rocket exhaust buffeting the antennas and...

They need a bigger barge for rough seas.

They said the vibration of the landing knocked the camera out.
I've watched every launch and landing so far. Will be visiting a cousins husband in the hospital this afternoon. Wife is taking pad to watch there. This one off the west coast will have new titanium grid fins, which can take the heat of reentry better than the aluminum ones. Remember SpaceX is a private company, not NASA.

Always thrilling, isn't it? There were almost 96,000 viewers on the YouTube feed at liftoff, and 113,000 for the landing.

Just amazing. As a kid inspired by the much simpler Mercury program I wish this was on TV.
Consider that if the aerodynamically shaped capsules landed within a handful of miles of the target it was a howling success. Now we can put a tube on the button and softly.

Record six launches in one year, and a total of 13 landings so far, total.
That's something. That's quite something.

If people had any idea of the impossible difficulty of the things they make look routine, they'd just boggle.
