Do you need an origional factory guard or a custom?
BTW - doesn't the 40x Rimfire use the same action screw setup as a Rem m700 ADL??
Meaning, wouldn't any suitable Rem m700 ADL guard work?
Just womdering.

Your wondering is right. Now the 40X rimfire receiver has a 8-32 screw for the front trigger guard screw. The front and rear receiver screws are 1/4X28 I believe.

I used an ADL trigger guard on my 40-X RF build, adding a piece of wood in the stock so I could attach the front of the trigger guard with a wood screw instead of the 8-32 screw.

I wish you would hurry and finish my 40X.

Chuckle chuckle, I guess when Josh and I go back to his girlfriend's family cabin east of Morgantown, I could bring it. He left his good flyrod there.

Is it a 40-X or 40-XB? The 40-X uses the same as the 722/721 series. If it's a 40-XB it'll use the 700 ADL as mentioned above.

I would be willing to make the 4 hour drive to pick it up.
I've only got to shoot 1 40x, been lusting for one since. Actually went to look at one a few years ago with intentions of doing some trading for it but it was gone when I got there. Came home with a Cooper JSR intead.
I had been lusting for one of those for a good bit too.
p.s. still waiting on the pics and a range report, color me jealous.

Dave, I wish I had taken a picture the past weekend of it. Gene Davis does the most beautiful work. Metal looks like chrome. Sent it to Jim Kobe yesterday for stocking and rust blue. Since the special barrel is SS, I will do Melonite on it to match the rust blue. Early 40X receiver-Kiff bolt with custom bolt handle by Dan Armstrong. Special 8 groove, LH twist, gain twist Bartlien barrel. chambered and fit by Gene Davis Jewell trigger 3 POS safety-Jim Kobe Custom scope bases-Jim Kobe Receiver front ring squared, receiver threads single point threaded, firing pin tip shaped-Gene Davis Exibition grade walnut-Roger Vardy Australia Stocked carved and checkered by Jim Kobe. Might be close to a year before it is completed

I might drown in drool by then just thinking about how sweet it will be.
Still jealous.
