https://www.gunsamerica.com/958124465/Weatherby-Vanguard-Stainless-Steel-30-06.htm

Bought this last week and was looking for advice on removing the hydro dip from the stock and repainting. I was hoping to paint it brown and put a red pad on it but haven't had any luck finding one (red pad)for the Vanguard. Talleys and a Timmey should be here tomorrow. Also would a rechamber to 308 Norma be difficult?

It is the electroless nickel plated version not stainless and weighs 7.4 as pictured.

Weatherby VAnguards either came in 410 SS old version or 416R in the new version. I have heard of Mark V's being nickle plated(Weatherby Mark V alaskan) Howa built .

After looking at the pics, it appears it was nickle plated, that is an old vanguard for sure.

Here is a link for red recoil pads, most likely will have to be ground down to fit your riflegalazan recoil pads

I would look for a used VAnguard or Vanguard II in 300 win mag

Ya, I found it a couple years ago and couldn't figure out which model it was. I was looking for a VGL and the serial number starts with VL. which is how the VGLs are stamped. I kept checking to see if it had sold and finally just made the guy an offer. After I bought it, through a call to Weatherby, I was told most likely it's a Weatherguard Alaskan only available in '93-94. The rep had to dig out an old catalog to identify it.
