Been itching to do some casting for my 1S Whelen and thought I'd try a heavy weight out. Decided to give NOE's 360-310-FN a try and ordered it Wednesday. It showed up Saturday and darn it if Al didn't ship the wrong top punch with it. An email to him that afternoon and a prompt reply with an apology and statement that he would get the correct part in the mail.

An hour later I had a shipping notice in my inbox. Yesterday afternoon I had my new (correct) top punch for me in the mailbox. Dang, that was fast! Can't beat customer service like that.

Today on my way home from work I decided to stop by an indoor range. This place has changed ownership 3 or 4 times in 6 years. Figured I would step in and see what the new owners have done with the place. Apparently the new owner has turned it into a bit of an Army / Navy surplus and pawn shop. To my surprise, there was a shelf full of bullet molds. Most were old Lee 2 cavities but there were a couple of NEI's and Lymans too. The NEI's were some big boy stuff--one was a 0.510" cal and other was a 0.600" something cal. I walked away with two Lyman molds and a 26 caliber M die.... $46 out of pocket.

The molds are a 358315 and 266469. He had a few others that I will eventually make it back for. Hard to pass up for $14 each. And they are practically brand new, still in the plastic wrap in bright orange plastic boxes.

Haven't turned the pot on yet. Need to get my lead stocks up a bit...but I couldn't help but feel like I used up a fair bit of my luck today with these finds.

I built a .35 Whelen just to shoot cast bullets with, I bought the RCBS 35-200-FN, but experimented with a lot of my .357 molds- everything I played with shot really well, very flexible caliber for cast.
