There seems to be quite a few negative experiences on these. Seen a few who've fitted them and removed and others who advise to steer clear.

I've a S.A. M700 I'd like some extra space in to seat bullets out more. On the face of it the Wyatt looks good.

Yeah, well, "on the face of it" , many YouTube vids look good too until ya click on 'em and find out they're horse(bleep)...

Just sayin'.... Maybe some smiths will work with them. I, on the other hand, will not.. I've seen too many instances where they create mucho more problems than they cure...

Pass.

Redneck hit it right on the head, they are an over marketed POS.

You might think about lengthening the box and modifying the receiver.

Same questions. Can you put an 06 length mag on a short action and then block it off for a 3" OAL?
Will the ejection port need to be opened up too? I think I can get to about 2.90" just by moving the bolt stop back.
Will go to an after market side button release type so easy to move it back some.

Yeah I know I should just get a long action but I already have everything for the shorty on hand.

What is the problem with the Wyatts boxes? I have installed and used several with no problems at all....

Correct.. Especially a Ti action....

Staying within the length of the existing box will be TONS cheaper. And the animal won't know the difference with a 50 fps increase in speed.. JMHO..

We install Wyatt boxes all the time. They are a great solution to get the extra room needed.

Maybe they have improved, but the one and only I used several years ago was a POS. Heavier metal than a factory box but dead soft and crudely made.

They're a solution searching for a problem.. Have the same value as a screen door on a submarine...

I have only been installing them for the last 8 years so not all that long but in that time to me they seem to be very good metal. They are about like trying to form leaf springs. I had to make up some special tools to tune them up. They need the edges deburred so they don't scratch up the brass. I have found they also need tuned for release point and tension so they can be loaded properly. To fit longer rounds that don't fit right in a short action or on the longer magnums like the 7Stw and 300 Rum they are a godsend when trying to get high B.C. bullets out near the rifling.

Watch out for the Wyatt boxes sold at PT&G. They look similar but are made to different specs and not in a good way compared to the ones sourced from an authorized dealer or from Wyatt directly.

I installed the Wyatt setup on a 700 Remington SA with Remage Swap barrels. Found that the .308 Magazine works with .22-250 Remington, .22-250 Ackley and .308 Winchester, all feed flawlessly and not one problem. I am still amazed.

I have one for the 223 and have never had a problem other than it scratch the brass when i first installed it, but polished the edge of the mag and fixed that

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.
