My special order Tikka should be here Monday.I have lots of bullets for 223 8 twist with maybe 69 grain Noslers the heaviest and longest. So what would be a good heavy long high BC bullet to use for big game in this rig??Thanks ahead,Huntz

The 75gr Scirocco looks interesting. Haven't tried it tho, as I have a bunch of 75gr AMAX.
Do or do not, there is no try.

75 gr A-Max with IMR 4831 is my load in my 1&8 22-250
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Good groups with H4350 but will work up a load with Hunter to see if I can get a bit more velocity. Only heard good things about AMAX out of a fast twist 22-250. Not sure if they are still available but the ELD-M would be nice with BC of .467

I shoot 69 tmk's and 70 Bergers (22-250)with superformance powder and get an exceptional velocity advantage over any other powder I've tried. And I tried quite a few powders. I haven't tried those bullets on anything besides coyotes. The work very good on them. I clean often with superformance it is a dirty mess.

I had mine throated for the 75 amax. It's very accurate with h4350. I went away from the 75 and trying 60's.... I haven't been long range shooting like I Planned and want the extra velocity as reality has me actually shooting under 500 yards . The 75 amax bucks wind like no other bullet I've seen!

Mine fast twist 22.250 has a one in 7 twist... and is on an action that use to have a 243 barrel on it...so the magazine is roomy..
Mine will run 80 grain A Maxes, ELD-M, Sierra and Nosler HP Match bullets just fine.. and anything else smaller...
just skip the super fragile bullets such as SPSXs etc...
they evaporate right after leaving the barrel...
contrary to slow powder, I find the fastest velocity and best accuracy on mine with mid range burn powders...4064, 4895, Rl 15, AR Comp...
that was after testing the usual 4350, 4831, RL 19 etc...

that was after testing the usual 4350, 4831, RL 19 etc... I figured you'd eventually work your way around to 4064... Just messing with ya... My 8 twist .22-250 started out as a 6mm Rem Mohawk. The Shilen barrel gave it new life. So, to answer the OP, about anything from 80 gr. down is Kosher, Seafire's warning about overly fragile bullets, spot on. After you've gone "fast", it's hard to go back... Here are a couple of loads: 80 gr. Amax .43" group, 35 gr. H-4350 .40" group, 34 gr. 760 Did almost as well wtih 75 gr. Amax, seems to prefer 80 gr. A fast twist .22-250 is a real handy round and a great second life for any shot out SA M-700, M-600, M-7, etc. BTW, I do have a can of 4064... DF

I use the heavy a-max as well as some of the 75-90 grain bullets made by others.
That said i do like the a-max,no matter the weight.

You ought to upgrade with an alloy trigger guard from Willie Manning at CVMW.

I've got 77 TMKs, 75 HPBT Hornadys, 75 grain Scirrocos and i believe I'll start there with fresh Lapua cases in mine. As DF said, a 1-8 Twist 22-250 should be a wicked rifle. Had a few 12 and 14 twists and liked them but I believe I'll love this one. Should be great for my daughter as well. She loves to hunt and shoot but doesn't care much for recoil. I suspect it'll be a great set up.

I'm setting up for Noslers 70 grain RDF bullets.
22cal 70gr.—G1 Ballistic Coefficient 0.416 | G7 Ballistic Coefficient 0.211
A good combination of speed and BC. Flat shooting and longer range.

The only problem i had with my quick twist was the fact i could not shoot the 55 grain or lighter bullets because like Seafire said they turn into a grey mist a few feet in front of the muzzle.

I've got a great buddy with a 22-243 Middlestead that shot nothing but Nosler 55 grain BTs through its 8 twist. Shot knot holes and never lost a bullet. It was wicked on antelope. The BT's have a thick base and sorta thick jacket for a varmint Bullet.

On the other hand, you probably don't know that I shoot probably 10 times as much of 4198 than I do of 4064...
and then most of my shooting is 260 on down...in size...
probably shoot more 4895 IMR than I do 4064 also...
but then 4064 is seldom a bad choice...
and since I'm being contrary..... the 75 gr BTHP is more accurate than the A Max and so is the 68 BTHP more accurate than the other A Maxes...
and 80 A Max is the most accurate of the A Max bullets...in 22 caliber....
and finally that's a great use of a good old Rem 600!

70 rdf with RL26 in my 22-250ai. No hunting with mine tho... How about some details on your RL-26 loads with 70 RDF. I'm starting to use RL-26, never thought about it in the .22 250. I even see people using it in the 6.5 Creedmoor. It seems pretty slow for the CM, but it's a dense powder allowing a good charge even in smaller than big mag cases. I've read about the new RDF bullets, have not worked with them, am interested in details. DF

I had very good accuracy with the 75 BTHP, almost but not quite equal to the A-Max data posted. I have a fast twist Brux .22-204, M-7 that I like, the .22-250 just pushes'em faster. DF
