I've got one on the way and am wondering what scopes you fellow southpaws have mounted on yours.

It will be used for all standard .22LR purposes - paper, vermin, plinking.

I've got a lot of options on the shelf, from a Burris 6xHBR/PA, 2x-7x 32mm, 3x-9x 40mm, 4x-12xAO, etc. by Burris, Leupold, and Nikon,.

I have a Weaver 2.5-7x28 on mine and am quite happy with it. From your list I would be looking at one of your parallax adjustable scopes, the Burris 6x HBR stands out to me the most.

My 22LR usage sounds a lot like yours...... Over the years I've come to settle on the 2-7x power range for all my general small game and plinking. Got a 2-7x on my CZ 455 and one on a 10/22 although I'll admit to getting satisfaction from an old Bushnell Banner straight 4x on an old Winchester 121-D also.

George, I have a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 with the Ballistic Plex reticle on a 22 LR and like it very much.

Have had a straight 4x Leupold RF scope on my LH Rem 581 for hunting for almost 20 years. Never felt "under scoped". Put a 4x12x40 AO Leupold on the LH Anschutz I picked up last year for paper punching. First AO scope in two decades. Night and day difference (vs the 4x) for paper punching. Especially for 60 y.o. eyes. Planning to take the Anschutz out to the squirrel woods in a few weeks to see how much difference the AO makes in the field.

I have tended to go to higher magnification as my eyes get older. Natchez has a great sale on Weaver Grand Slams. Just a couple of days ago bought a couple of the 4x16x44 with side adjustable parallax for $279 each.
But I haven"t had a chance to examine them in detail as they are sitting at my brothers house in PA because Natchez will not ship to TN.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Thanks, fellas.

I am leaning towards a 3x-9x, as that is what I have on most of my other .22LR rifles, including my lefty Anschutz.

Once I pick it up from the transfer dealer, I'll probably mount something with higher magnification like a Nikon Monarch 5½x-16½xAO to test accuracy with different ammunition, then decide on a more permanent choice.

I mostly use a VX2 4-12 AO with fine duplex. The Weaver V16 is a good one too for more magnification at a better price, especially from Natchez.

One you may not know about is the Clearidge. http://www.clearidgeoptics.com/product-p/3310.htm It has good Japanese build, finger adjustable covered turrets, and AO to 10 yards.

I won't use a China-made scope.

Mine had a 1.5 x 5 VX III for a while and it was great. I actually won a 150-yard 'smallest group' local competition with it!

Later, I put a clunky Bushnell Banner on for plinking. AO, tons of up, side focus and lighted reticle. Not pretty, but works. it's 4 x 16. Too big really, but again I wanted to drive it in a local comp. Worked well for that purpose.

I installed a Nikon Monarch 3x-9x on the CZ and took it to the range yesterday.

After boresighting to get the scope close to POI, I began shooting (all velocities are from manufacturers' web sites, not chonographed from my rifle).:

First up, CCI Quiet (710fps) SIX rounds:

Next, was CCI Standard Velocity (1070fps) FOUR rounds:

Winchester '555 Rounds' ammunition (1280fps) THREE rounds:

And finally, the star of the show, CCI MiniMags (1235fps) FIVE rounds:

It was 105 degrees and the sun was beating down on me. This was the second rifle I tested (the other was a suppressed 10/22 with a TacSol SB-X barrel) and was getting overheated, so I didn't do any further testing.

Judging from the above results, the gun will shoot well Final zero was with the Mini-Mags. Next time out, I will shoot the different ammunition at the same target to see where they hit relative to the current zero and will extend the range to 100yds.

I will also try the CCI Stingers (1640fps); I forgot I had them. confused

Good shooting, George. I guess I'm surprised at how well the mini-mags shoot.

Thanks. I'm surprised by the MiniMags as well.

They shot well in a Ruger 10/22 with a TacSol SBX barrel that same day:

That's five shots using a Burris 1 1/2x-6x scope that will be replaced.

They might have changed the priming compound.
