After mulling it over a lot I went with the Winchester SXP 20 Gauge. I'm in California so I have to use non lead shot which will be Federal heavyweight 7's as recommended by a lot of folks here. I have always used Kicks Gobbling Thunder but someone mentioned they are not good for heavy shot. I don't know but am going to check with Kicks. Has anyone experienced using the Federal heavyweights and what choke and choke constriction seem to work the best for you.

Trulock's Heavy Weight 7 is a great one in most guns but I'd try your full or extra full choke that came with the gun first to see how they pattern.

Kicks will tell you no to Hevishot, many believe it's because they are in with Winchester. I've shot hundreds of rounds of Hevishot through my 12 gauge Kicks and it's as good as the day I bought it.

That said for the 20 gauge Federals there are better choices. Trulock, Sumtoy, Primos Tight Wad are all good ones. I'm shooting a Colonial Arms .570 from my Rem 870

I'm around 150 in a 10" circle and 240+ in a 16" circle at 42yds.

Kicks is dumb if they don't make a choke that complies with heavishot or heviweight shot.

I use Primos Jelly Head in my 12's and 20's and they work great with Federal and the Hevi-shot. Federal #7's were good in my daughters SXP, but not as good as Hevi-shot #5, so as always, pattern with different loads.

That said, I bought enough of both to last me a lifetime from Gander Mt when they were having the going out of business sale.

Sumtoys.
Of you are not happy he will work with you.
My weathetby sa08 with sumtoy and either heviweight 7s or hevi shot 7 is awesome. Between me, youths, and friends kill about 10 birds a year with it. Rarely take the 12 anymore
