Crazy.
I watched these guys run an AR15 the same way until it caught on fire.

I checked out a few of their 'meltdown' vids, AR and AKs.
Pretty good stuff.

Apparently polymer makes for a bad auto. The pistol failed at 600 rounds (guide rod) and then was destroyed at only 1,200 - and was that a cook off at 4:39? I don't have a nomination for a pistol that would fare better, but metal would be a good start.

A lot of the subguns and machineguns fire from the open bolt. That takes care of the cookoff problem
I was fairly impressed with how the G17 held up considering it really isn't intended to be fired to that heat.
But then, I've never seen any other pistol put to a test like that, so the Glock would be my only point of reference.

The video is very impressive.
My only question is: How does a civilian get by converting a pistol into a subgun complete with shoulder stock, and putting video up for public consumption without the ATF hauling your butt away in handcuffs?

He referred to the people who supplied the auto sear and stock.

He must have the Class III (?) license. It has been my understanding that the GCA of 68 made it unlawful to manufacture or register any more machine guns. Only those weapons already in civilian hands and registered as such with ATF in 1968 can be transfered between civilians, with the obligatory $200 transfer tax on each transfer. Perhaps my understanding is wrong, but I have several friends whom have owned class III weapons for over thirty years, and this is the rule according to them. Perhaps the auto sear is only available to law enforcement?

You can still make them... FFL type 7 manufacturer7.5.1 Manufacture of machineguns for sale to government agencies or as “sales samples”. Notwithstanding the prohibition in Section 922(o), qualified manufacturers may manufacture machineguns on or after May 19, 1986 for sale to Federal and State agencies or to FFLs/SOTs as “sales samples” for demonstration to prospective governmental customers.125 The weapons may be manufactured and stockpiled in contemplation of future sales, but their registration and subsequent transfer are conditioned upon and restricted to sales only to government agencies or as sales samples. See Chapter 9 for a discussion of the required documentation supporting these sales. See also Section 7.6.1 on the manufacture of machineguns by contractors of FFLs/SOTs.

It wasn't the 68 GCA that stopped machine guns. The first law stopping general , unlicensed sales was in the 1930's. Not sure exactly when, but George Bush the first signed the law making it illegal to permit a machine gun after the bill took effect. Not only can a new weapon not be permitted for civilian sale, but if you find an MP40 or Thompson that grandpa had in the attic, there is no way to make it legal.

That was an expensive ammo bill, but proved I'll never have to worry about how fast I'm pulling the trigger on a G17.

I watched a few of their vids where they put a few weapons' dicks in the dirt. Cheap AR, expensive AR, cheap AK, expensive AK. The cheap guns puked at 200-400 rounds, the expensive guns went around 800+.
In direct comparison, the G17 really shined. The polymer guide rod was predicted to puke first, and it did around 600 rounds. Throwing in a steel guide rod it went over 1200 rounds. That's more abuse than anybody could put on a regular semiauto Glock.

Something that would never happen firing semi-auto in one outing of even several hundred rounds.

I don't get the point, but somebody let me know if they do a torture test using a barrel plugged with Tannerite. I don't like watching long videos, and I don't think that would pose a problem.
