Anyone every hunter unit 9 in Wyoming for Antelope. Me, my uncle and nephew will be heading up in Oct for our first ever antelope hunt.

Drove through there when headed to my Duty Station in Alaska and told my wife I would come back someday to hunt all the antelope I seen while driving up. That was back in 06 and then again in 09 when we moved down to Missouri.

So are we, at the Wagon Inn. All eleven of us, 5 hunters and 6 others.

I was stationed in AK from 96-99 and thought the same way you did when I drove through. Good luck on your hunt.

A pard and I had doe tags for AMU #9 in '15. We went out the second or third week of the season I can't remember; was right before Columbus Day (I remember that cuz I get the day off). We camped up by Lance Creek.

There is a ton of "walk in only" management acreage there. Go a couple days early and find water.

Son has a buck tag there this fall so we'll be out Saturday afternoon getting a game plan together for first thing Sunday morning. That'll be the key; getting out and on em early because once they're pressured it'll be tough catching em on public land. A GPS w/ On-X-Maps is CRITICAL; I'd sooner go without my binoculars than leave that tool behind for this hunt.

Good luck!

I hunted that unit about 5 years ago. Like efw said, the walk in hunting areas are abundant and probably your best bet. Not the biggest animals in this unit, but plenty of decent bucks to be had. We hunted the opener and could have tagged out in the first hour, but spent a few days scouting and ended up with good bucks. efw's advice really is the best advice you'll get...spend a day or two before the hunt going to the various walk in areas to get a lay of the land and a sense of which seems more productive than others (you should be able to tell pretty easily) and then get out there early the first hunt day. It doesn't take much time for the animals to start realizing people are shooting at them.

I had a doe tag in area 9 last year, I Got my doe on state land after about an hour of hunting.

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

There are different types of land that have different rules.

There is BLM, state land, and walk-in management (public hunting on private land). The latter is truly walk-in only.

Well my trip to Unit 9 was successful. We seen quite a few antelope and some nice ones. My nephew and I both tagged out. Excellent trip for sure.

That’s really cool man I’m glad you all did so well!

Nice work w/ the nephew; mine didn’t have a tag but is hooked as well!

It sure is a beautiful unit isn’t it?
