No stealth lube here your eyes don't deceive just wanted to showcase the bullet and these great "Gator" brand gas checks which are a breeze and just clip on..Then into the lube sizer for their SPG or TAC 1 finish..I prefer the SPG for lower velocities up to about 1400 then TAC up to the low side of 2K...Use both in my 45/70..45/90 and triple four with excellent results... no leading issues.

Woody, some years back I had a Belgian built cape gun, 16/.405. Lost my mind and sold it one day and have regretted it since. The .405 rocks and wishing you luck with the paper punchin'.

I am..........disturbed.

395 gr NEI use with 4198 and SPG, sized to .411, shoot in 450-400, 400 Whelen and 400 H&H with the same fine results.

Moving at 1400 fps.

Three @100 from Ruger No.1

That's a hammer of a bullet you have there ! These big Hindenburg's with nominal velocity will buckle the knees of most critters just ask ole "Teddy" BTW answered your PM.

Oooops !... Dan that must be a hard pill to swallow these days, I've sold a few choice pieces over the years I regret mostly vintage scatter guns though. The 405 does rock and seems to be making a comeback among loonies as it deserves a place among the better big bores especially in lever attire. So far this bullet shoots well but I've had to seat it deeper due to the short leade or lack thereof in these Miroku guns...First chrono loads were surprising they clocked 1847 avg with 46 grs of 4895..A tad faster than I want but will play with some reduced charges to settle around the 1500-1600 neighborhood.

Good work.

RCBS mould 416-350FN also works well in the current 405's. I size down to 0.414 and seat to the crimp groove. The loaded shells chamber and cycle freely. The bullets are a little heavier at around 370 gr when lubed and fitted with a GC.

Thought I'd upstage myself and go a tad heavier so I special ordered this behemoth gas check for the 1895. Weighs in at a hefty 415 grs + or - .6 gr with 30:1 alloy..Was afraid it wouldn't stabilize with the long bearing surface but it seems to be OK with my first short range tests..Haven't loaded it up yet to see its full potential but this should stop anything in its tracks..

Watching this with interest. That's a fine looking bullet- almost enough so to make me want to go looking for a '95 or #1 in .405.

It is a biggen fellas... ordered it cut .415 and since it has such deep grooves I have the luxury of messin with the downsizing to even .411 should it group better but so far the 95 prefers a.413 diameter.
