8-21-2005 I bought a 1956 Win 70 30-06 that had been rebarreled for $585
I put a Pac Nor 270 barrel on it, a Borden Rimrock stock on it and started shooting deer.

1-6-2012 I bought a 1953 Wim 70 308 that was minty, except for a broken stock wrist, for $400

2017 I put the 1956 stock on the 1953 barrelled action and except for me swapping out the sling studs, it looks original. My reaction to most rifles is to give them a new barrel, stock, trigger, scope, sling, etc. But if this can be original or close to original, I will leave it alone.

Then today I was looking at the butts. Is that plastic butt on the 1956 stock a Winchester part? Should I inlet the 1956 stock for the 1953 Aluminum butt plate?

TIA

That is a Winchester composition/hard rubber butt plate. However, Winchester did not begin using the hard rubber plates until 1959 and it is very unlikely that the stock was original to your 1956 rifle....

I don't know what that has to do with anything. Your pictures suck balls too man. Get us some that show the top of the stock. Pull the plastic pad off and lets see if it's an original uncut stock. Full picture of the stock so we can see the checkering panels. I know what I'd do with it, based on what I can see... As with always (mostly) I agree with pocono and southwind...
