Just a heads up for those interested. I recently purchased my first box of Winchester Ballistic Silvertips in .308 Win. I was disappointed when I took a look at them. Three bullets were clearly improperly seated and with the fourth I was able to pull the bullet from the case using only my fingertips. (See attached photo). Has anyone else had this experience? I bought the Silvertips to try something new and different for whitetails this fall.

*To Winchester's credit, 8 hours after I emailed them with this issue, a Winchester representative called me to discuss the problem and then emailed me a shipping label so I could ship them the defective rounds at their expense. However, I think I will go back to the old reliable Core-Lokts that have served me well over the years.

If you want to try the same load sans black coating just get some Nosler ammo topped with Ballistic Tips.

I have had more misfires with Remington Core Lokt factory ammo than all others combined and poorly formed cases too. This in 30-06.

I have never experienced real good accuracy from Winchester factory rifle ammo like I have other brands, I quit buying Winchester rifle ammo many years ago but I do still shoot Winchester factory shotgun shells...The Winchester Long Beard turkey loads are excellent!.....Hb

I've had just the opposite experience. Never a miss-fire with Remington ammo.

I've had acceptable accuracy from factory ammo. Usually handloads whip em.
No misfires.
Rem, Hornady or Win.
Got some old Rem .30-06 ammo, ran great in a 760. New Federals did too.
Ruger #1 likes Win 100 gr (.243win). Cloverleafs. Tried the new Deer Season XP and my rifle does not like it.
The Win 80gr does 3/4" out of my ADL..........good enough for yotes.

Have yet to set up a reloading room at new house, so am content to run factory.
Only really need handloads for chucks..........and they're dang near extinct around here (no hurry).

35 rem Hornady or Win...............shot great in my Contender rifle.

Is Winchester sending you some serviceable ammo too? My bud used to hunt with that same ammo in 30-06. Then I started reloading the nickle brass and the ballistic Silvertip for him. He loved it. Killed two deer with one shot one year. He swore it was magic ammo.

I've never had a mis-fire with Remington rifle ammo. However, they're brass is beat to hell. I bet 3-4 per box has dents and dings in them.

Their 22lr bulk ammo sucks though. I won't buy it anymore.

They said they would send me a refund check for the box of ammo.
