Will a 260 (22"barrel) hold enough energy to cleanly take deer sized game out to 600 yards?? If so, what would your load be. My gun shoots 130 & 140 VLD's very well.

If your gun likes the VLDs, run em. I used a 20" Tikka CTR on several culling/cleanout jobs on WT out to that distance and further with the 140 VLDs, 123 and 139 Scenars. Never felt under gunned.

If you know your velocity and run the numbers in a ballistics program, you will see that at 600 yards, the .260 has plenty of horsepower for deer. I have not shot a deer with mine at that long of a range, but I did smack one at 430 last January, with a 129-grain Interlock-drt. If you like Bergers, then use them and you will do fine.
You did not "seen" anything, you "saw" it. A "creek" has water in it, a "crick" is what you get in your neck. Liberals with guns are nothing but hypocrites.

A sleek 130 at 2,850-2,900fps will get to 600 yds with a retained velocity of 2,000fps or so. I've seen my daughter shoot quite a few deer with conventional Ballistic Tips in the 120-140gr range, using light loads that gave impact speeds of 1,800-2,000fps. They penetrated just fine on broadside shots and wrecked vitals. I'm not likely to shoot a deer at 600yds, but I think the 260 would do it if need be.
Now with even more aplomb

Absolutely... I shoot 140 grain Amax in a 22" 260 and killed a bull elk with it at 500 yards with no problems whatsoever...

My 13 year old daughter killed hers the day before at 450 with the same rifle so I had to show her up...

I'd fret the shooter/rifle not the .260 at those distances, especially when referencing "energy"....

Go back to playing call of duty....
Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

I am toying with maybe taking my .260 for a walk, or two during my Nebraska cow elk hunt. I have some 147 ELD-Ms loaded to 2724 fps. I am going to see if Re26 spices that up a bit, after I receive some more bullets next week .

Be interested in what you find with the R26. The 147s run 2725 out of mine over H4350 and getting short, I picked up some 26 to see if I could find some additional velocity. No joy in the 6.5 version, but had some good gains in the 6 CM with 105s...
IMR 4350 in the 6.5 looks like it's going to give me about 60 FPS gains, still with single digit ES, SDs.

I also have some 140 Partitions coming for testing. I was told that re 26 gets the 140s some real good speed.

My pal from the Yukon, a few years back with one of the largest bodied bucks I've ever seen. Killed cleanly with one shot from one of my .260's I'd loaned him. If I recall, the shot was 400+ meters. 130 grain Berger H-VDL 3000.
