Does anyone have any idea what the standard CIP 6.5x57 Mauser chamber free bore is? I'm going to build one and am considering a custom throat. I can not find any prints on the web, my Google fu seems weak. Thank you in advance.

See if this has what you want.

The whole page and a better view of the chamber section.

My favorite caliber....

I built mine on a model 70 long action.

I made a dummy round that was magazine length, on the action which was having
an 06 barrel removed.

I took the dummy rounds, each with a different bullet on it...

had the gunsmith throat the chamber to accept a 142 grain Match King.. with the bullet seated out
to mag length...

the gunsmith appreciated me bringing in the dummy rounds, telling me he wished ALL customers
thought that far ahead... making his job much easier, instead of guessing what they wanted exactly.

That looks like 30mm of free bore to me. I'd love a correction if I am wrong!

I see it as 30mm, too.

Not sure if that is free bore or unspecified. I know the 5.6x57 is made to take 22 RF inserts and has a thicker neck but doubt the 6.5 has that.

Other diagrams didn't show the leed at all in fact it had no throat or leed.

If you are ordering a reamer, or it with .050 freebore, then have the gunsmith throat it for what ever bullet you intend to shoot. Bullets design is changing dramatically, plan on the future.

This case will work better on a long action.
