I've done to same thing to all my gas cans plus put a valve stem with the cap but without the valve in the hole.

Just have to drill a 1/2" hole for the vent (which they give you).

Curious as to what your gripe is on these.

I use mine to fill pony motors and occasionally lawn mowers. I prefer them to the old gas cans by a long shot.

Whoever designed the junk which is CARB friendly- or whatever- probably never considered that many people pour the entire contents of more than one jug in a tank while filling machines. And quite obviously never did so when it was 10º with blowing or falling snow. Between Sceptor replacement parts and jiggle siphons, I manage to keep tanks gassed with minimal water added, but I sure hate the jugs which leak or have spouts just begging to be knocked off because they don't fit inside when not in use. (Who hauls gas jugs around with the spout pointed at the sky anyway? mad )

That's exactly what I got.

Mucho better. North 40 has them, but for a few bucks more

They also make a "high flow" version that is about twice as big, that I use on my diesel cans.

I have the high flow version too...

A couple of them. And one of the regular ones.

The regular ones slow me down now. The wide mouth ones will fill something up fast! smile

Charlie, I got tired of cussing those GD safety pour, BS nozzles myself! mad

The thing about those "safety" nozzles is I spill WAY more gasoline all over the place trying to work them! They are in reality dangerous as hell!

Yeah had the joy of bathing in gas in the middle of the Nevada desert trying to fill up the truck with one of those POS cans. Dangerous as sheit. Luckily, there was a stock tank not far off to bathe in while it was about 40 degrees out...

+1000!
Since buying my first one, I've gotten rid of my old cans and replaced them with these.
The link Roger posted, those look interesting too.

Yeah man. They really work good. Clean pour and easy to see the contents.

That said, I'd not use them to fill my truck on a regular basis.

Could have told you that just by looking at them.

I have a couple of those, as I often carry four or five containers of gas or deisel home at a time for the tractors. They are okay, but very slow. But if you look at the right side of the page which is linked, under related products, is the high flow alternative.

Empty 5 gallon hydraulic oil jugs work great.

About the only benefit to leaky old tractors is that you never have a shortage of gas jugs....

Trust me, I know. I have a riding mower, UTV, chainsaw, 2 weed-whackers, a generator and a tiller to feed.
