My wife has been trying many recipes to match her grandmas'. The texture is never right. Any favorites? thanks

I don't even try to make cinnamon rolls but go down to Duft & Co. Bakery here in Abbotsford, BC for crazy good big cinnamon rolls. Sticky buns with or without nuts, cinnamon rolls with or without creamy icing. Plus the best and biggest ham and cheese croissants I've found on the planet and my quest has roamed across several continents. Pennsylvania Amish country has some mighty fine cinnamon rolls, but they can't touch Duft.

Anybody heading across the line at Sumas on the way to Alaska, it is worth it to drive into the old downtown and hit Duft.

Hey thanks for the frosting recipe Sam.
We're half way there! Though she is still looking for the recipe for rolls themselves, I suspect your frosting may end up atop one of her quick breads until then.

Okanagan,
I can't agree with you more. A GOOD Bakery is worth the drive. For us it's a 240 mile RT! Our baker left town about 10 years ago or so. Really miss that bakery.
Duft & Co. Bakery in Abbotsford, BC will be on our list of places to go if we get out that way - we will pass on your 5 star review to those that might .... I wonder if they might share their secret of their baking success with a northern Minnesota lady?.... she might give them a call.

Trail Hog, thank you. If you do head for Alaska on the Alaska Highway, another superb cinnamon roll is at Tetsa River, about mile post 375 I think, maybe 100 miles on north past Fort Nelson (actually west at that point). An outftting family has their base there and in the main log house they sell good coffee and fabulous cinnamon rolls. My son, grandson and I stopped there last Fall in falling snow, wonderful.

Locations like this are among the good stuff in life. laugh
