That foam from a can, can it be used in a hollow tupperware stock to deaden the sound? What are the disadvantages? It would seem to work with out adding too much weight.

Yeah, I would go for minimally expanding foam. I don't think it would hurt if you had a few voids.
That 3x expanding stuff can blow things up, if you are not careful.
Many claim to have good luck stuffing Wal mart bags in hollow stocks. Lighter, less hassel and FREE.

Put the right kind of expanding foam, some work some do not in this application. Don't ask me how I know.

Yes, it works fine, BUT I'd recommend only using the minimally expanding Windows and Doors style of GREAT STUFF spray foam with a long drinking straw to spray the foam at the front of the stock in 5 or 6 layers. Spray a layer and let it cure, spray another layer and let it cure, etc. until the stock is slightly over full and then trim any excess with a razor blade.

The regular GREAT STUFF expands a lot and can bulge the sides of typical injection molded stock if you put the recoil pad or buttplate back on before the foam is done expanding.

Use the closed cell expanding stuff. Be sure to tape the end of tour stock and let it cure completely. Trim flush and reinstall you pad. It works well.

Unfortunately it's all "minimally expanding" these days, unlike the good stuff they made in years past that expanded a lot. Must be a change for EPA requirements or something, but the new expanding foam is pretty disappointing.

Strange, just a few weeks ago I bought some that expanded great. Used it for filling in around a door that I put in a shipping container. miles

Last time I bought the foam they sold both high and low density. The high density doesn't expand as much.

Prwlr,

2-3 plastic shopping bags works great or styro packing peanuts from your last Amazon shipment. Free and light.

Well I tried cheap - it worked - took about 20 local grocery chain shopping bags but no more loud thunk.

The expanding foam or grocery bags fill the void in tupper ware stock, how to add a little weight without changing balance?

I stuffed a T3 stock full of dry cleaner bags, that worked too.
