I wore that hat all through my college rodeo days, riding bucking horses, and the scars/wear on it is honest.

Now I only wear it only on occasion, as I have a newer custom fitted one made by the Rocky Mountain Hat Company. This one I used for the pics I wore this weekend at the Braun Brothers Reunion Music Festival, as the weather was sketchy and rained/hailed, then was sunny, then lightning, then more rain.

If I trashed a $500-$600 custom hat (I have not checked prices lately) my wife would kill me.

Here is the "new" one:

Dang thats a lot of jack rabbits! Do you eat Jack rabbits? when I was young and lived in New Mexico we did not. we boiled them and gave them to the dogs. Seams like Dad said they were too tough and worried they had ate poison. We would eat the cottontails of course. What caliber is the Ruger?

I have never figured out how to get the skin off of a jackrabbit let alone eat one.

my deceased son had a good way. it was called a 130grain hollowpoint
out of a 30.06 at about 3000fps. It kind of cleaned them for you.
I was always taught there was only one class of people that ate them, a certain minority.
They stink when cooking kind of like an open sewer line.
Only reason i know this is next door neighbor made stew out of one. Every fly in the neighborhood was at his door.

i did quite shooting them a number of years ago, out of guilt. I was driving in the desert and observed a male jack on the back of a female humping her. so I shot the female first. Male kind of looked around as to say,,,,,,, what happened? So i shot him too.
Later i was sorry about it, i could have waited until he was done.

I grew up in the Dirty Harry era...never bit on the hype....a buddy bought a Blackhawks 44...with factory ammo it was painful to shoot..
So for years I turned my nose ant anything 44...just was content with 357 revolvers and 1911s....since I bought a python an fell in love with colts....an Anaconda showed up in a cabelas gun library for 800 bucks...I bought it because it was a colt, I didn't care for the 44 but for that price what to heck....after shooting it I quickly changed my toon...what a dream...its dearly at 80 yds with cast bullets around 1100...I now have a 629 mt gun...funny how thing work now my two fav revolvers..guess I should have been more open minded....

The green fiber optic front sight on my delightful model 69 is a wonder. If I hold the bottom of the dot level with the rear sight is on at about 250 yards. Which was close enough to throw dirt on a coyote. Sure made him run.......

Since we are rebuilding our old thread, Shrap found me this Nickel 6" dash 3. I know they're not a real desirable era but it shoots like a sumbitch.

Bad picture of the 44, but a decent pic of me. I bought a Ruger Redhawk in Kodiak, AK with my first paycheck.

We were out climbing mountains that day, this was Mount Barometer on Kodiak, with my Ruger Redhawk, summer 1984.
