My neighbor has a Remington 788 6mm with see thru mounts.
His kids gave him a new Zeiss as a gift and gave it to me to rig up for him.
He wants to do away with the see thrus and mount the scope closer to the gun, but I can not for the life of me find any bases that will work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, EGW makes a rail for it.

Thanks guys.
I believe I have what I need on the way.

Does anybody happen to know what size plug screw it takes to fill in for the front and rear sights?

Best guess, 6-48. Probably the same as the mount screws.

It's possible that ejected rounds may hit the scope tube on low mounted scopes, many times it hits the windage turret.

If the scope is a straight duplex, you can always rotate it CCW and put the windage for elevation, and the elevation for a left sided windage.

Just a heads up from one who knows...

Exactly right. Often many think there is an ejection problem. The 788 throws empties straight up. My old B&L 2x7 allows the shells to eject, though they hit the turret some. Good advice from RWE.
