I looked and looked for an NEF Handi Rifle in .357 Magnum at a reasonable price. No luck. So I finally broke down and ordered a new custom barrel from MGM for my Encore. That took a couple of months. No sooner had I received, installed, and scoped the new barrel, a Handi Rifle ishowed up close by ... and I bought it. No doubt the MGM/Encore is the superior rifle, but I want a gun I can throw in the trunk for a while and not worry about ... and that ain't happening with the Encore.
So, I'd like to sell the unfired MGM barrel. Here are the particulars, cut and pasted from my original order:
Build A Custom Barrel Encore or Contender: Encore Product Name: 16.25" - 27" ($120.00) Barrel Length: 20 Finish: Chrome Moly Blued Finish Polished (Standard) Caliber: 358 Cal 358 Cal Chamber: 357 Magnum Dummy Round: No Twist Rate: .358 Bore 1-14 Total: $370.00 Contours: Heavy Factory (.810") Forend Spacing: Standard Rifle (5") #8-40 screws Drilling & Tapping A: 4 hole Drilling & Tapping for sights: No Barrel Coating: Choose Coating Option Threading: No Subtotal: $370.00 Shipping Bundle Rate: $25.00 Total: $395.00
I'm out $395. I'll let this go for $370 shipped lower 48; ready to ship on receipt of payment. Did I say it is unfired? It will need to be broken in. Not interested in trades. Thanks for looking.
Edit: I will include the Leupold QR base and an unopened set of QR rings (low) for an additional $60.00.

So does this come with a forend? If not will a factory TC one fit? Will a standard scope base fit?

I'll get some pics up this evening. It does not come with a forend, but a forend that fits a heavy factory barrel will work. It is drilled and tapped for a standard scope base; I have a Leupold QR base on it at the moment. Any base designed for an Encore rifle barrel will fit.

Pics added. Shown mounted, with a factory synthetic forend and a Leupold QR base and rings. Forend, base, rings, and scope are not included; shown only to demonstrate fit. Keeping the scope, but might be willing to deal on the base and rings.

One more. I'll shoot a couple more once I have removed the barrel from the frame.

Here it is detached from the frame. Discovered I have an unopened set of Leupold QR rings (low). The base is $60 at Midway, the rings $30. I will leave the base installed and include the rings with the barrel for $430 shipped. Just as happy to remove the base if you don't want it.

Picture by request, shown with a Choate folder; I also use a standard synthetic buttstock on occasion. Several have said they wished the barrel was shorter. Since I had no intention of suppressing this one, 20 inches seemed optimal for balance and velocity. $350 shipped for the barrel; $400 for the barrel, Leupold QR base, and low QR rings.
