I want to make a tub, or a couple tubs, of camping supplies. We went fairly often this year, and it became a pain taking stuff off the shelves and back on each time we went. And it always seemed like I forgot something or another....
So, what's on your camping list? Anybody have a "ready to go tub" made up that you can basically just throw in the back of the truck and have everything you need.
I'll add to and edit the list as we come up with stuff.
Current List:
Shelter/Sleeping Supplies Tent(s) Tarp Sleeping Pads Sleeping Bags
Cooking Supplies Propane Grill Propane Canisters Matches/Lighter Charcol Lighter Fluid Pot and Pan Spatula Spoon Hot dog forks Plates/Bowls Silver Ware Dish Soap Paper Towels Cooler
Lighting/Fire Flashlights Lantern Matches/Lighters Fire Starter Brick Propane Canister
Personal Soap Bug Spray First Aid Kit Toothpaste
Ok, What am I missing, What should I add, What should I cut. Throw out any suggestions. I've got most of this stuff spread out around the garage/House/Shed currently. The goal is to get a list, find a couple tubs and pack them up so they are ready to go. Then when I'm done I'll just need to clean, repack the tubs, and they'll be good to go again. -Jake

My comments for truck/car or boat camping. If you're carrying all this stuff adjust to fit.
If you're not going to a campground with some facilities you need to add sections for water supply and sanitation such as:
Water water storage and carrying containers - rigid or folding water filter water disinfection method (chemical, UV , or extra fuel for boiling)
Sanitation Toilet paper, Extra toilet paper, emergency toilet paper in waterproof container (get the idea?) Toilet method - shovel for cat holes, portable chem toilet, portable bag toilet, etc Trash bags
If you're out for extended period or in hot weather you might want a portable shower bag or pump system.
I'd add a dish washing sponge/scrubber pad and/or steel wool soap pads and some sort of reusable toweling (handiwipes, backpackers towel) to your kitchen stuff. Maybe some sort of dishpan to wash stuff in. Some sort of folding/rollup table if you're not in an established campsite with table.
Chairs
As you get older you'll appreciate cots.
Extra batteries for anything that uses them.
Some assortment of rope. cord, bungee cords, etc for rigging tarps, clotheslines, whatever.
Tent patches/patch kit
Duct tape

To your list and MikeL2's list, I would add the following:
Paper Plates 2-burner Coleman Stove (propane) Propane (16 oz. canisters) Frying Pan with non-stick surface Folding Table (roll-up tables are too small to be useful)
Dutch Oven Charcoal Briquettes (Kingsford Matchlight) Pot Holders Tongs
Water Jugs (I use several 1-gallon jugs and refill them from a 6-gallon jug) There's usually some source of potable water from which you can refill your big jugs. If not, then you need a water filter.
Folding Canopy
I put all of the small stuff in one foot locker that has wheels and a telescoping handle. I can just grab it and go.
I put food in another foot locker and in a cooler.
I prefer LED lanterns (I own several big fuel type lanterns [white gas & propane] but the LED lanterns are so convenient and safe that they have replaced the older technology)
Mike is right about cots. Get mattresses big enough that they overlap the hard edge rails of the cot.
Make sure that your tents have full coverage rain flys. The cheap ones whose rain flys only cover part of the tent, will leak when the rain falls sideways in the wind.

Do you have a spreadsheet program available (if not, OpenOffice is free to download). I have 3 camping lists, car camping, hunting, and llama packing. I vary them according to what I'm doing. Each item has 2 check boxes after it. I print off the appropriate list and check the 1st box on each item I want for that trip. Then I check the 2d one as it's loaded. That has cut down dramatically on the times we've got to the hills without coffee or toilet paper.

Throw some salt, pepper and seasonings in there and I use a lot of the anti bacterial wet wipes. You can get a pretty darned good bath with those. Do you use those compressable camp pillows? I find them fairly useful. No kit of any sort is complete without Gorilla Tape.

I like having a towel to dry off - even if it is one of the backpacking/Sham-Wow types.

Everything I need in the kitchen goes and stays in a bin. Dry and canned stuff included.
That alone alleviates a lot of work when it's time to go.

I read years ago if you have all your camping items stored were it is easy to access and load in your vehicle yo will use it more, well it worked for me. I have everything in tubs on a heavy duty rack on the garage wall right next to the door. Takes 5 minutes to load all my necessary items in the truck with no searching for missing items!. I now have taken that a step further, I have the bedroom nearest the garage converted to my hunting equipment room including a big work bench to clean / service my guns and another set of racks with tubs label summer hunting / fall camo / extreme, etc. with the big work bench in the middle of the room it makes packing or unpacking quick and the laundry room is right next to it. I have also noticed that my home office is now 40% office and 60% reloading room, makes a relaxing work from home day to crank out a few rounds of reloads in between boring meeting.

Montana Marine did a great list there, only thing I see missing are vehicle tools and some spare parts like fuses. I lost all my lists when my computer took a hit so sorry can't offer more than this.

I have several lists. One is for hunting out of the wall tent, one is for taking the horses and staying in the wall tent, one is for backpacking and one is for first aid kit. I just print it out before I go and start making piles. I even have a grocery list for wall tent camping.

How old are you? As the legs get older, a folding toilet seat gets very handy when there's no outhouse nearby. The bags they sell with them are a PIA. Dig a little hole and set the stool over it.

Rocky: I use the toilet type that sits on top of a 5-gallon bucket. Yours is collapsable. That's an obvious space saving feature in a pickup that's full of stuff already. I fill my bucket with extra toilet paper, tall kitchen trash bags and a spray can of air freshener. So it doesn't take up too much extra space. I also use one of those collapsable, spiral trash can thingys, into which I put leaf/garden bags. KC

I'd add a hatchet and saw for cutting firewood and a shovel for digging a cathole.
