My dog was ran up to a large a large ponderosa pine on property and starting acting birdy and then locked up

I grabbed the shogun while she held point. Returned a few minutes later and a covey of grouse flew up from top of pine

I then went in search of dove

Beautiful dog you have there. I have the same model. Love the dog but hate the fur for hunting. It's like owning a large piece of Velcro.
I clearly didn't give it enough thought before I switched to a Griffon from a GSP. Mine is a hunting machine but brushing out his coat can be a chore. Going to try shaving him down before our Montana trip next month.

Nice job on the grouse.

Dove here. Our 'bird' season doesn't start until November. One of these days I'm going to get out to the mountain west and chase after something besides bobwhites and ringnecks.

I chose geese as there is nothing to attract large numbers of doves up here and grouse opens next weekend. Given a choice with decent numbers of doves I would still pick geese as one of them will feed more than a limit of doves. I can put 15 geese in the freezer which I am pretty near to doing. I will grant a similar number of doves leaves more space for other game but fortunately I have room for multiple freezers.

We started out with doves, spent a quick afternoon with them.

Our club has a preserve permit to release pheasant quail and chukkar.

Been shooting ringnecks the last two weeks

Why not head over to Kansas or Nebraska for some prairie chickens? Spent three days last week searching in eastern KS and got into a few before stopping when it got too hot for the dogs.

Going to try Cowboy Magic on my Griff. Supposed to make combing out burrs easier! Will see.
