A couple traps and a can of tuna would be relatively quiet. If it's an urban dog that works garbage, outdoor pet food, and a few cats, a little human scent will probably not make it deviate from it's typical habits.

Shooting in a neighborhood has inherent dangers.
Set up a couple of coyotes sets, use double traps at each set up.
It would be way easier to trap it, knock it on the snout with a piece of rebar, then dispatch it by stomping (quiet and efficient), than to go around a neighborhood looking to shoot something.
.22's can carry a ways, might wind up hitting something not target related.
Traps work 24/7/365. It will be there waiting for you.

The safest and most fun way is to get a large live trap, catch him then take him to the local animal shelter and say " We caught this poor stray dog, can you take him?"

I am trying to bring in a huge coyote I saw with some cat food. I am pouring some chicken broth over the food before I put it out. No luck yet, but it has only been a couple of nights. I know a can of sardines bring everything in. I just happen to have an open box of broth that needs to be used.

If you don't want to be heard use a CCI CB short . Have dropped several DRT out to 92 yd (rear of head) with one of these. Others ran off scalded (shot in lungs) to die later. I know because I would follow their trail behind my house with my GWP and find their body 100-300 yds away.
