Going to south central Texas in 2 months for a 3-day whitetail hunt. Shots are from towers or blinds and won't exceed 100 yds. Taking a 6mm Remington. It's shoots both of these bullets very well. I know either bullet will do the job, but wanted to ask here because it's fun seeing what others think. What would you use?

Whichever one reliably makes two holes, every time. If they move out of the cut, having some leakage to follow is real helpful.

I'm going with the ELD-X in my 26" Number 1 over some RL26. No chrony, but should really be crankin'. In the past I've used a 100gr NPT and a 100gr Sierra PH. Prefer the NPT for penetration, but both were quick kills.

I'll probably try the ELD-X on a doe before trying it on a big one.

Honestly, for 100yd shots, I'd choose NPTs or a mono-metal; something with guts. C&C bullets can lose a lot of weight up close, and 6mms don't have a lot to give up. They absolutely will kill, but like the other guy said, two holes are good to have if you have to track, and sometimes you have to, even with perfect shots. Stuff happens.

I have an accurate 80 gr TTSX load, 42.5 grs IMR 4166 @ just a tad over 3,400 fps. This was going to be "the load" for this hunt, but that was before I found out shots would be relatively close. And I do have some 100 partitions, I've had got luck getting them to shoot well with Rel 19. We have a 3 day anterless rifle season here in Kansas the first weekend in October, maybe I'll get a chance to try either the ELD-X or Berger then to see how well either works.

For the distance mentioned, I'd take this one over the Berger or ELD-X.

For an out of state ( read expensive) hunt, if partitions shoot ok, I'd take them every time over a CnC 243cal bullet.

And at less than 100yds, they don't have to drive tacks!

My second choice would be your TTSX, and put it into the shoulders.

For shots under 200yds, especially on a travel hunt, give me the tougher bullet in the .244/.257 chamberings. The TTSX or Partition please..... Save the others for testing on broadside does back at home.

Those Bergers work great for shoulder shots. Those Texas deer shouldn't be any harder to kill than NC deer.

Having used all of the bullets mentioned considerably (save the 103gr ELD-X) on deer, on "travel hunt" I would absoluelty rather use the Berger or ELD-X over a TTSX. The reason is wound channel- the Berger and ELD-X make a bigger one. The Partition is better, but still wouldn't choose it.

I've been involved in two separate rodeos (wasn't the shooter) involving the 95gr Berger at less than 100 yards. Pass the solid (or Partition).

How fast is your 6mm twisted? I've wondering about them in a 1-10 twist. I have a 6-284 that won't spin the 105 hpbt

the little copper solids at 3,400 are bad medicine. I'm a big believer in using premium bullets in small calibers to ensure 2 holes.

Find some interlock 100 gr Spire Points and move them 3000 fps got to be better than them blow up bullets at that range. MB

Maybe I'll just tote my .308 and load it with 150 gr Partitions.

The 95gr VLD is a wicked little 6mm bullet! It works very well on game and I wouldn't hesitate to use it on deer. I suggest you try it out and post your results here.
