So now that my daughter is interested in hunting, I'm loading a single shot 223 with 60 grain partitions for her. She's 63# and not real tough. 1:12 twist . I have rl15, h335, and TAC on hand. I also have been trying to develop a nice load for my ruger American 1:8 twist using 64 power points. Just looking to see if anyone has had great luck with these bullets with a specific powder. Thanks for any input. I also want to try 62 scirocco and 70 grain speed out of the ruger.

26.5gr Varget works well for me under a 63gr Sierra in one rifle and a 62gr TSX in another. CCI Magnum primers in both loads.

I have rl15, h335, and TAC on hand. Those are certainly among the usual suspects, and hopefully one will work out for you. I had to try far more powders than I would have liked, but maybe my rifle was just more finicky than all the ones I read about on the internet...  FWIW, I put 26.7 grains of R15 under 63 Sierras, and light it off with CCI 400's. Excellent groups and dead things result. Good luck, FC

Loading a lot for kids, and soft shouldered adults...
19 or 20 grains of 4198, either one...
while ANY powder will pretty much work in a 223, considering it being a small youth
she still doesn't need the extra ( minor to us, both not necessarily a kid) recoil of more powder
plus how far is she going to be shooting any way..
Heck, 15 grains of 4198, with the bullets you mentioned, is more than enough medicine to drop
a deer at 30'/30 ranges, 150 yds or less...
the 63 grain Sierra, 60 Hornady SP, and definitely with a 50 grain Barnes..
but she is your daughter and dad knows what she can handle best...
but the above will do the job for a kid, even on a large deer.. shot placement is the key as we all know..
and I try to make it as easy as possible for kids when they are starting out, at the ranges
deer are normally taken at...

Also Sierra 63 SMP, 55 Hornady SP, Nosler 64 gr SB Bonded may be worth a try.

FYI ; For me, CFE-223 likes near-max or max loads to really perform. Recoil is still a pussycat.

Of the powders you listed, RL15 would be my choice, although H335 may get the speed up.

I had found a load of 23.3 grains of h335 to be accurate. Loaded a bunch the other day and used tac on accident. Well, those aren't quite as accurate, but they are 80 to 100 faster. Not that it will matter.
Daughter is turning out to be a great shot. Went to the range tonight and she shot very well with the deer gun and squirrel gun. The h335 load I shot a half inch group at 55 yards and she shot three quarter inch! So we have the hinting load. Average speed was about 2850 with 60 grain partition. Pretty sure any deer in our woods won't like that much.

Seems like varget and cfe 223 are popular. I'll likely try them too. Curious if they are ball or stick. I have to admit, those tiny little kernels are a pain in the arse.

25 gr of re15 under the 60 gr partition has taken a good number of deer on our property. It's a nice, soft-shooting load, mostly used by the old guys. They found out it didn't beat them up like an '06 and killed deer just fine a few years back.

Good to know trplem. I have a pile of RL15 left over from a gun I sold years ago. I would like to use it on something else. I have three 223 guns and a 30/30 that I figured i could use it up in. Kind of figured the RL15 might be useful on the heavier end bullets. I also have some 70 grain speer I would like to try in my bolt 1:8 and my AR 1:7 twists. Not really messing with the other two right now as Im trying to get my daughter dialed in. But I really want to get a good load with some 62 grain Swift Scirroco for the bolt gun. Currently it is shooting 64 winPP pretty well over TAC, but needs more bench time to be sure.
