Lipsey's has 2 new No.1 Exclusives out just now. They are 1S's in the 20" barrel, like the earlier 44 Magnum. Calibers are 460 S&W and 475 Linebaugh.

I'll be damned!
I didn't see that coming!
Will you be getting any of the 460's?
Thx, Todd

Yes! I can finally fill that glaring .47 caliber void in my collection that has haunted me for years. I missed out on the first run of Linebaughs, but I won't this time. Betting the wood won't compare to the earlier run though...

The same configuration is available in 450 Bushmaster as an exclusive through Randy's in Michigan. No ugly brake like the SS one

This year, I think. Lots of bargains still to be had if you are cartridge-flexible. Whittaker has 7.62x39 for $799. CDNN might have some too. $1800 is not in my budget, nor do I think they're worth that much. I suspect there's a lttle fudge factor there from Lipsey's. Cost can't have increased that much. Darrik has implied that the big bargains are not going to appear again, so anyone wanting a cheap, new Number 1 should probably grab one now.

Let me guess:
-Overpriced -[bleep] wood -chambered for silly cartridges -aimed at the "I have to have everything" No. 1 collector
The only way to have an exceptional No. 1 today is to buy an old red pad and have it rebored or re barreled.

Took me a while to get my 1S in 308. Saw two or three for sale in 2015, but just didn't pull the trigger. Then nothing for months. Beginning of last year started looking and in April or May found one at Cabelas for $1,049. Snatched it up. But in the last few months, there have been none listed anywhere. Not looking for another one. Would think hard about a .357, but the price would have to be right. Also thinking about a 450 Bushmaster or 45-70. The No 1's in those are still more than I'm willing to pay. May end up wetting my whistle on one of the Ruger Americans in 450 BM or one of the new Henry 45-70 single shots if they ever become real.

I would LOVE to have a #1-A in .357. It has always surprised me that Ruger has never really chambered them in the original Magnum. The only ones I have ever seen where some sort of Highway Patrol edition.

If the gun is the same size as the recent 44 mag models, that 460 S&W is gonna rattle some teeth!

I'd like a .475, but not with a 20" barrel. I know it's just 2", but it just does not look right to me, compared to the 22"

The 44mag, 450 bushmaster, 460 and 475 are all legal in some special states for deer hunting. Ruger/Lipsey maybe taping into this market.
No 500 S&W mag. Beyond deer?
As stated the 460 may rattle some teeth and I would think the 475 as well. I have seen No1 in very short light configurations in 30-06 that might be a handful for some. On the plus side, the 460 can handle 45 Long Colt and 454. There are plenty of 45LC cowboy loads on the shelf at low cost for fun shooting. Perhaps some one will purchase a 460 and give it review with various power loads.
These pistol rounds might be less risky a purchase where the accuracy expectations are not so high as they would be for something like 243,22-250 etc offerings.

I think they decided to make something for the recently-empowered Midwest hunters who want something a bit nicer than normal.
BTW, the accuracy of my current-issue .243 has been just fine so far, without extensive load work or rifle fiddling.

We just got in one of each at work. The .475, which is MINE, has "lottery wood". The best wood I've seen in a L-O-N-G time. The .460 is rather plain. Will try to get up a pic later today.

I'd love to have a #1 chambered in 500 S&W Mag. That 20" barrel would be just about right.
