Pat,

When did you buy the first pair that was "fine"?

Another "not a fan" here. All I had to do was see a few different models in the store, in person, to see that they are nowhere near the sophistication of boot construction of other modern brands. The materials, the design, the soles, all reminded me of a mid priced hiking boot made in the early 90s. Then consider the cost and I don't see how they sell. Can't say I have any first hand experience because I know enough about boots to never buy these. They've done a good job with marketing though, Ill give them that.

My first pair of Mt Extremes leaked pretty badly in a late season Oregon Elk hunt. Kenetrek replaced them with Mountain Guides and they have been flawless for three seasons and going into their 4th. Have a pair of Hardscrabbles for warmer weather. I like the Kenetreks and like how easy it is to talk to a person on the phone.

My dad and I have each had a pair. Neither pair lasted very well or impressed me, especially considering the price. Put me in the "not a fan" camp.

I have the NI version. They have been awesome for me. Little to no break in time required for me. The waterproofing has held up, as well.
