Just bought a 336A in 35 Remington. Rifle has 24 inch barrel and uncheckered monte carlo stock. Serial number indicates 57-58 manufacture. Can't find much information on this model. Any info on how rare it is would be appreciated.

336As didn't sell nearly as many units as the 20" barreled carbines and sporting carbines, so they aren't very common, but they aren't what I would consider rare either. They were Marlin's answer to the Winchester 64 and were chambered in 30-30, 35 Rem, and 32 WS.

The guys at www.marlinowners.com are probably a better source of information on your rifle.

I have a soft spot for 336A's and SC's. That soft spot gets even softer if they are 35 Rem or 32 Win, and have an unmolested waffle-top receiver.

Picked up a really clean 336A in 35 Rem at an auction less than a month ago. It came home with me for less than $400.

I always felt the 336-A model Marlin pointed like a short barrel bird gun....

Just got back from the range and was pleased with the 336A. 1.5 inch group with Remington 200 Grain, Hornady Revolution not near as good, 3 inch or so, also shot 6 inches higher than Remington with same point of aim.

ran across a 1970 manufacture .35 Remington Marlin at a pawn shop a few weeks go. Down in Davie Florida. With Bushnell 3-9X, priced at $350. Should have gotten it.

If you can find a box of Federal .35 rem, give it a try. I generally found the Federal more accurate than the Remington .35 200 gr load.

Ditto. Both my 35's love the Federal stuff. But even more so try handloads with Speers .358 FN 220-gr bullets. Awesome and a true "thumper".
