It's being revived. One of the guys at the deer camp work weekend brought some and I tried it. The best flavor description we figured out was a nondescript lager that somebody had put out a match in. Still better than Coors Light though.

I sure hope that name doesn't offend anyone, or they may have to change it.

We used to drink the hell out of that, back when I was stationed at NAS Pensacola. It was VERY cheap at the base exchange. As with most of us, Cheap = Good Beer, back in the day.

If I'm drinking cheap beer - PBR, Schlitz and Coors yellow cans. None are "light".

There was nothing quite like having a shrimp poboy and a Dixie beer.
I wish Hubig's fried pies would come back.

Wonder how old it is? "Only love is better than Schlitz!!" 5O's and early 60's Schlitz was the best selling and best tasting beer in Chicago. Then they went to chemical aging and I think Heilemann's bought them just to destroy the brand tasted rank after that. Lot's of good beers in those days. Wish they'd bring back the quart bottles of beer.

Get down to NOLA every few months for business.
A few years ago, guy in hunting camp wanted me to bring him a six pack of Dixie. Found it in the first convenience store I walked into. It was not cheap.

As a lad, I used to listen to KMOX radio from St Louis, Harry Carry, and Gus Mancusio, the beer sponsored the Cardinals ball games. That was before Anheuser Busch bought the team.
