I carried this bullet, in hand loads, in two rifles for several years, but only took one elk with it. It was very accurate in both rifles, which was the primary reason that I kept using it, but the elk never cooperated on the days that I had it with me. The one elk that I shot was a larger than medium bull at about 140 yards, as I recall. Hit just behind the shoulder and exited, breaking ribs both entering and leaving. Pretty much destroyed all the plumbing in between. I finally decided that it was overkill for the kind of elk hunting that I do, and a torn meniscus in my right shoulder convinced me to quit screwing around with magnum cartridges, so both rifles were traded off.
