I picked up an encore 12 ga. rifled slug barrel. The thing is super accurate with about anything. But it kills on both ends, and I could not even tell I had a Limbsaver pad on it. Porting is the only thing I can think of that may help. I have used a Mercury tube in a stock once, the small difference was not worth the price of the tube. Any thoughts? Oh, the forcing cone has a smooth transition.

Porting helps with muzzle jump but does little for recoil. If it likes about anything, try the lightfields. They have less recoil.

I would be happy if the muzzle jump was cut in half. That would make a huge difference.

Thumbhole stock could help too. Adding weight to the rifle is also an option.

The recoil from 12 gauge Hornady SST slugs never bothered me in my synthetic stocked Encore, but when I went to a 460 S&W barrel, I added 26 ounces of weight to the buttstock.

If using a standard stock on your Encore try switching to the "flex-tec" . It makes a difference. Also try shooting while standing either off hand or on shooting sticks, I've found perceived recoil is much lighter standing than sitting at a bench.

I am using a Flex-tec butt stock already, Limbsaver pad.

Shot it again, the barrel jump was a lot worse than I remembered.

I would like to have it ported, or magna ported. Does anyone on here do these?
