I saw a redone 48 red Power Wagon at a car show yesterday. That is a neat old pickup.

Had one on a Hill Country deer lease back in Texas when I was a young man. Roughest riding vehicle that I ever had the misfortune to experience!

My father told me about one he had as a company furnished truck sometime late 50's/early 60's. Original Powerwagon complete with vague steering and military non directional tires. Apparently is was good on forestry and logging roads, but not on pavement. He told me about driving home on back roads after a fresh snow and essentially caroming down the road from the ditch on one side to the other - he couldn't keep it on the road, but didn't get stuck in the ditches either!

Old rancher around here had a surplus one he used to bounce around the foothills in checking cows and such. Since our local "slickhills" are largely comprised of softball to basketball sized rocks with a good cross section of larger boulders I think he died of kidney failure. Seriously though if you rode in the thing you'd swear the axles were bolted directly to the frame. I think the little flathead 6 bangers were good for about 80hp but boy were those trucks geared low.

When I was in the army, we preferred to avoid slick pavement. Those tires were like racing slicks on slick roads.

Remember back in the 1980s and early 90s, someone had one that did the car show circuits and Monster Truck Shows out of Wisconsin....touring the upper Midwest...
Real clean and had the original 6 replaced with either a 413 or 440 Mopar....
Always thought those were the coolest of cool for 4 WD trucks....
