Gent's, anyone done a McMillan-stocked Model 70 - 670 / blind magazine?
How many rounds does it hold down?
Pics?
Thanks in advance!

If I'm reading correctly it holds 3 down but not 4 down?

3 down, with a little thinning in the area I believe it would hold 4. I ended up using a mauser follower to get the Swede to feed. Pre 64 long action so that may take some space as well

I've done it, but can't remember how many it held in the belly. If I was doing it again, I would stick with the lightweight 1 piece bottom metal mainly because the Edge stock with a blind mag on a M70 has more square corners...the bottom metal makes it seem rounder when carrying it with one hand under the action.
Still have a MRC1999 blind mag that should be ~ the same that I'll try to check later.

Should have said, 30-06-sized cartridge.

Should have said, 30-06-sized cartridge. The blind '06 based Winlights hold 4. I have a blind 243 Fwt in Fwt pattern McMillan that holds 4. You need to notch out the 670 box for a classic so the ejector can clear.

The blind mag McMillen I have on my 338 WM only holds two down, which is kind of a deal killer for an Alaskan gun. Wish I'da known before buying it.

Just had Mcmillan open a blind magazine edge Winchester M70 stock to accommodate a floor plate/trigger guard. In 30-06, gun held 4 rounds,1 chambered 3 down. Now accommodates 5 rounds.

I forgot to update. The MRC I have holds 3 down (35 Whelen).
If you do this using a standard mag box you have to grind the bottom to fit the blind mag. May be able to pick up an older 670 mag box but I'm not sure if there is a difference with most of them being push feed?

I have two .30-06 rifles one is a stainless FWT classic in a blind Edge, the other a M670 in the Winlite sporter stock. Both rifles hold 4+1, though I can fit 5 down in the Winlite mag, I just can't get a round in the chamber with 5 in the mag. I prefer the Edge stock with the floorplate, but the deal I got on the stock made it tough to pass up.

Thanks to all, both PM's and on this thread, for your input.
A recap for any contemplating the same...
The M70 Hunters Compact Edge with 670 bottom metal definitely holds 4-down. That's good.
Several here and in PM's that have had them mentioned they don't like how flat the bottom, sans bottom metal, is. Another who had one mentioned that aspect didn't bother him at all.
Two guys said they sold theirs because they missed the ability to clear the magazine from below.
Me, I prefer a blind magazine, having both types.
As to the flat bottom... can't say, other than my Kimber MT's seem just as flat, yet don't bother me at all. Should be fine for me.
Decisions...

Not that I need either...

The square edges of the stock when in ADL configuration are annoying. Agreed. The problem isn't so much the flat bottom but the square edges. Feels like packing around a 2x4. No comparison to Kimber Montanas, whether in 84 or 8400 WSM configuration, which have a more radiused edge.

The old winlite/fw pattern suffers less from the square edge syndrome as well.

Dumb question, but what's the "670"?
