I would be interested in a 280ai.

order of my vote for caliber preference:
6.5 SAUM or PRC
6MM creedmoor
338 Federal

but I would probably buy the 280 AI if made and that was the LTD edition

I'd be willing to bet that 6mm CM would be a very popular choice, and I can only imagine how sweet a 338 federal would be.

Of course they will never make the 6.5 SAUM or PRC, but worth noting that when you ask rifle loonies what they want- the 6.5 SAUM always gets a share of the votes.

I don't think Barrett is going to create a new action for a limited run. Short or long action standard rounds. Anything larger or smaller probably isn't in the cards. Don't think a left hand action is coming out for a limited run either.

They could keep their short action and add a mag face bolt for the SAUM... Actually would work quite well as their mag box is longer than a standard Rem 700 SA....

Honestly, I can't think of a better fit for making the most out of the 3" mag box.

7-08 with heavies should be good to go as is.

6.5 Creed won't have issues. Could go .260 but why bother?

6.5 SAUM would be really sporty in the recoil dept however, and I'd not want one.

Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

I think the action and bolt may both need to be beefed up as close as they are to Mr. Forbes actions. I think he calls his short mag action a M28....not sure if that correlates directly to oz's, but I know his M20 and M24 do. The action is made to minimal dimensions....maybe it could be opened up safely?

Yep, Melvin uses the Model 28 Short for WSMs, SAUMs, and 6.5 and 350 mags.

Barrett could beat Hornady and Ruger to the punch and introduce a 6.5 PRC.

I haven't been on the fire in a while I am glad to see that absolutely nothing has changed! It's even harder to believe that SAS hasn't had enough of this [bleep] to last him a lifetime yet!

Couple replies on here asking for a 6 creedmoor - looks like they have already added that to the list of available chamberings...

Nice.

I'd vote for a short action round, maybe a 6mm creed or a 280AI to sit in the safe with my other LAs that get used much less these days.

Do like the brown stock and red pad idea. Sooooo fashionable.

The suggestion that 6.5 SAUM recoil would be anything other than negligible is hilarious. With a full-house 140gr load at 3100fps the SAUM still has 10+% less recoil than a middling (2800fps) 168gr load from a 30-06.

.....Edited to add....

And the SAUM has LESS recoil than the 7-08 with "Heavies"

147's out of a Saum, prone with a sub 7 pound rifle is gonna end rather quick personally.

The Creedmoor Fieldcraft I shot, didn't seem to snuff recoil as well as my Montanas either, but I didn't spend more than 20 minutes behind it.

Argue the 10% less recoil thing all you'd like, the Creed is a serious sweet spot and makes the SAUM mostly unnecessary.

I'd also like to point out that I spelled unnecessary without spell check, so I have that going for me. Which is nice.
