Anybody else get Fruit flies in the summer?
I read that they come in with garden vegetables so I wash everything outside before bringing them in the house but I still get em.
I hate the annoying little bastards flying around in your face all the time.

I trap a ton of em with apple cider vinegar in a jar with a cellophane lid but you can't get em all.
Come on cold weather.

We use a paper funnel into the jar with same vinegar. Works great. Cleans them out in a few days.

I use a pint mason jar with just the outer lid screwed over a piece of saran wrap with a few holes poked in it.

It works pretty well but I still get a few.

You can also get similar flies that live and breed in your plumbing traps. Google it.
I am too dumb to do links and crap.

That might be what I have. The info I found says they like garbage disposals and plumbing traps. I don't have a garbage disposal but everybody has plumbing traps.
It looks like the remedy is the same vinegar traps but I found one site that says to pour boiling soapy water down your drains. I'll do that tomorrow and see if it helps. The weathers getting cold enough that they'll die off pretty soon anyway but if it helps at least I'll know what to look for next year. Thanks.

I get them too. I try to connect them with the apple trees in the yard, and I think they show up in the house when the apples start falling. We put out the jars with vinegar, and I have hung up fly strips, but the little critters still fly and worry me. Cold weather will end their reign.

We use simple pickle jars once the pickles are removed, leave the brine. Poke lots of small holes in the lids, and set it near where you see fruit flies. They will die in large numbers.

An unemployed Jester, is nobody's Fool.

the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

Tried your suggestion today and it worked. Thanks, will file that away in the memory bank.
