As we all know my photobucket account is hosted and I knew this from reading forums. I need to find another photo hosting site. What are you all using now? I am hoping its free but who knows with everyone nowdays.

I use IMGUR (bottom) or TINYPIC (top) and both work equally as well as each other. I've never used Photobucket. !

Fairly seamless and albums etc burst on the screen. Much quicker than photobucket.

Switched to Zenfoilo. Its paid for. But the lower rate with out any resale items. Wanted a low dollar pay site to avoid the next PB unglue when the free site decides to charge for all your traffic.
YMMV.
Looked at Smug Mug but chose the other for a few reasons.
Good luck.

I used to only shoot shotguns and rimfires, then I made the mistake of getting a subscription to handloader.......

I am switching to the basic plan at SmugMug. They charge around $3.00 a month, and even on the basic plan you can do 3rd.-party photo posting such as posting in this and other forums. PhotoBucket wants nearly $400.00 a year just for 3rd. Party hosting. Would you believe such a nonsense?

It is a matter of time before IMGUR starts charging for their service, since broadband and hard drive space is expensive.

Go to your "smug mug" home page, click on the photo you want to view, and a share icon appears at the bottom right of the photo (looks like a square box with an arrow). Open this 'share" link, decide and choose how large the photo should be on a computer screen, and then copy the entire link that appears at the bottom of the share window. You can post that link in any forum you want.

How much of a P.I.A. is it to transfer my old photos from PB to one of these sites?

There's 2 dates they carve on your tombstone.
Everyone knows what they mean.
What's more important is time that is known
as the little dash inbetween.

Who uses a hosting service that has the HTML links as HTTPS rather than HTTP?

You can upload them from your computer. The upload speed depends on the photo-size and your network speed.
