What do all use for storing your food away from camp?

I've been keeping my food in a tree away from my tent and using my sleeping bag stuff sack and a hunk of cord to hang. It works but isn't too rodent proof.

Thanks.

I use a stuff sack, but a bigger one than my sleeping bag sack. Never had a problem with the pine squirrels. Except when I'm sneaking along through the timber, all silent like......

A few years ago, someone invented an electric bear bag. I don't think it made it to market, though, or at least I haven't seen it. It worked kind of like an electric fence. There were flexible conductive strips sewed all over it. If the bear contacted 2 at the same time, he got shocked like a fence.

Thanks guys. Most of my backpack forays, hunting and otherwise, only involve 2-3 days which is why my food fits into my sleeping bag stuff sack. In 2-3 days, either the elk are there, or one of them is dead. Then its time for real food and shower.

I'm not real concerned about bears - bears are gonna get anything not hung high and away from the trunk. BTDT. I'm more concerned with squirrel type creatures. I like the rubber lined GI bag idea. I'll stop by the local army/navy and see what they have.

I've never done anything special for food storage. All goes in the tent, and have never had a problem.

I use a canoe/kayak dry bag. Bright yellow, roll down top with snap, waterproof.

Ratsack

Never used it but saw it the other day at REI. I've always hung food and only had rodents problems once. I have heard rodent horror stories on popular trails like the AT, which would make me consider something like this.

I'm using something similar now - a Sea to Summit lightweight dry bag.
