I'm getting a Winchester stainless Classic in a McMillan stock chambered in 270. Rifle will be used on the ranch for a variety of uses. Will be used out of the truck some with most use probably coming from walking about late evening looking for pigs.

So I need excellent low light performance with the durability to stand up to being bounced around. Don't need any more than 10 power for sure. Want to be able to dial it down low for close quick moving shots. Want the scope light to keep a good balance on the rifle.

I have a Swarovski Z3 w/ #4 reticle on a Kimber Montana I use for the same stuff. I also have a little Kahles 2-8 on another rifle that have gotten to be a huge fan of. I wish that scope was still made honestly. I would get one in a hurry. I was considering another Z3 or maybe a Leica ERI 2.5-10x42 with a #4 reticle. Also was looking at maybe one of the Leupold VX5's.

Figured I would throw this question up here and see if there is some nice option I hadn't considered or for opinions on the listed scopes. I've found over the years that glass matters. I always thought a VX-3 Leupold was all a man might need until the first time I was looking at pigs after the sun had set through an old Schmidt and Bender. Would like to keep it below $1000 though.

Meopta isn't a brand I'm familiar with. How does its glass stack up against the other options in low light

I've got a Leupold VX-R 3-9x40 with the Ballistic FireDot illuminated reticle. I like the reticle for making longer-range shots in daylight. I'm not sure how well it works in low light but I'm taking it deer hunting tomorrow, so I'll have a more informed answer for that in a few days. Their VX-R 1-4 (also with an illuminated reticle) might work, too.

Swaro Z3 3-9 and your set. No need for a 30mm main tube.
