Yesterday I checked the anti-freeze in all the tractors and the truck. It won't be long now until we have a freeze. Moved all the liquid herbicide into the heated garage too. I've already used my spot sprayer for the last time and put RV anti-freeze in it. Need to get some wood in before long.

I've got all my wood in and a couple of bottles of scamper juice stashed away. I'm ready.

Also worth noting.....I actually bought a big pack of D-Cells and replaced the batteries in all the flashlights whether they needed it or not.
I try to do this every year but I usually forget until the power goes out and I realize they're all near death if not completely dead.

We started in a week or two ago.

Draining our irrigation pipelines and pulling pumps out of the river. Running RV antifreeze through the old Spra Coupes. Plug in all the waterers. Filled my bulk tank with #1 diesel this morning. Had 3 loads of crushed gravel hauled in and spruced up some low spots in the 'roads'.

Dozing manure and moving dirt back into our little feedlot. Hay is all hauled off the fields. The next two weeks is basically the mad dash to get everything ready for Winter and bringing all the cows/calves home.

Chopping corn tomorrow.

I'll probably get around to cutting wood when there is 2' of snow on the ground......grin

Nowhere have I ever heard that retirement was ever over-rated...

I think I 'prepped' yesterday.......

Turned the A/C off, opened the windows and sliding doors and went to bed!

Apologies to my northern friends.

Barry, in NW Ontario, it gets so cold, ice forms on the surface of the lakes, but only about the top three feet!

Hell, it was 90* here last week. It finally cooled off and we got our first frost yesterday. Maybe I'll go out and shoot a deer tomorrow.

When we were at the place in north Idaho for the summer we cut and stacked about four cords under cover. Turned the heat tape on and should be good to go. We will be heading up in a couple of weeks for some rainbow and Mackinaw fishing and the wood stoves will be lit. I cannot wait...

winter makes wet cow piles into nasty projectiles when you back into them with a snow blower (and we ain't talking about Frostie's girl friend) on the back of a 100hp tractor

Been spending time getting firewood put up.

Cutting, splitting, stacking. I always like the way it looks all stacked up. A certain satisfaction seeing it there and knowing we will be warm later on when it really gets cold.
