I’m considering a late season boat based goat hunt on Baranof Island and trying to find as much information
as I can. Has anyone hunted with Baranof Expeditions, their guides, is it a good trophy goat area, and how accessible are
the goats from the shoreline? Accessibility is important, as a nagging hip problem enables shorter climbs but
not the 10 hour, 60 lb. pack climbs of yesteryear. That time of year can be fickle with weather but it should produce
some nice winter pelage.

Generally speaking goats are are not going to be found at or around sea level (I know there’re exceptions but generally speaking) If you have trouble hiking I definitely wouldn’t start at sea level. I think a boat based hunt for other animals for an impaired hunter might work but for goats there’s going to be a lot hiking and brush busting if you start at sea level. I’m sure there’s outfits that would be better suited for you like a horseback hunt for goats. Good luck.

Baranof is a beast of an island. Very steep mountains and trails don't exist. Flew it a lot when I was in the CG and fish around it at times. I don't think they move down much into areas where you can actually find them.

I hope you had a good maiden summer with AWO. Are you guys going to have much of a winter fishery?

Yes, going to start in a few weeks after I get some hunting in.

Looking at the website, it looks like the goats push down during the rut according to what the site says. I see pics of Bobby Warren as the guide. You'd be in good hands.
