Has anyone had any experience with a Cooper big game rifle? I am interested in a Cooper Western Classic in 30-06 with octagon barrel. I have a single shot 22/250 and a Jackson Squirrel Rifle and am pleased with them. I am specially interested in Accuracy. I expect my hunting rifles to shoot moa and Especially one of this expense. Help please with comments?

They're excellent semi-custom rifles that are beautifully made. The customer service people are very responsive. I had mine full-length bedded (no extra charge) and some other extra-cost options added. Rifle is superbly accurate. Only downside is that they're kinda heavy. Mine is a custom classic, also in .30-06. Bob

A little heavy by some standards and a non locking bolt safety are about the only negatives.
Also some reports of a weak bolt stop, but likely not an issue except possibly on a hard worked larger caliber varmint rifle.

Cooper's are fine rifles that in my experience are extremely accurate and well made.
If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.

I don't think moa or better would be much of a worry at all, with one of their guns.

I had a Cooper Excalibur in 280 AI that I bought for a mule deer hunt in Utah last year. It was. indeed, a little heavy for my tastes, but it was a fine rifle.

I had a 56 in 264 Win mag. The safety seemed kinda cheap and the magazine rattled around. Looked nice. Plenty accurate.

very accurate guns, they send them with a proof target. if the action style/ ergonomics/ caliber fit your needs then they are an exceptional option.

Unless it's changed that's a fifty yard, indoor range target. Indoors is fine, but 100 yards would be better. Cooper had plans to build a 100 yd indoor range at their new facility they built 5 or 6 years ago but the county turned down the permit for building it otherwise they would have had a 100 yd range. All in all it really doesn't make any difference whether the target is shot at 50 yds or 100 yds since they clearly state that the centerfire rifles are guaranteed for one-half inch 3 shot groups at 100 yds. I have owned a great many Coopers over the years and they have all easily met the accuracy guarantee. drover
