Out West here we have plenty of open country. I've taken bucks with every Magnum and super Magnum that you have heard of and some you haven't.

I put together a AR15 with a ARP (AR Performance) 6.8 SPC Spec II barrel and it shot so well out to 400 yards. I figured I would carry it for the first day of our Mule deer season, well. It just worked out.

Complete pass through. Hornady factory 120gr SST . Bang 💥 Flop !!!!!

How far was the shot? Where did you hit him? lungs/heart/shoulder? curious if it would blow thru a shoulder and at what distance. Its a nice deer and a nice rifle, I have been itchin to try the SST in the 6.8 but have a lot of 95TTSX bullets to use first.

237 yards. Hit him center of the rib cage. Broke a rib going in, destroyed the lungs and exited the other side.

Good to hear you shot the deer in the ribs. Was thinking "spanking" meant a hit in another part of the anatomy.

Nice buck!

I've got over a thousand 110 Sierra ProHunters I need to shoot up before I even think about buying anymore bullets for mine. The problem is, they shoot so darn good.

Wow, nice mule deer and nice rifle. I put together an AR with an ARP 6.8 SPC Spec II barrel this year and it is super accurate. Hoping to take a whitetail with it this week.

It's a Leupold LRP ( Long Range Precision) 4.5-14x50 with the Impact 32, MOA reticle.
