I've been looking recently for a 444, built in 1968 to add to my collection. I let one get away from me on GB recently and I'm beginning to think it will be a long time before I see another. It got me thinking about how long others might have been looking for that "one" rifle they searching for.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I'd like to get another Marlin 1894 in .25-20. I should never have let that one get away. I haven't seriously looked for one though.

I looked for a good Marlin 57 22LR as a companion for my 56 for a while and just recently found one here. I've thought about selling the 94 in 357 a few times...

Marlins are like mules, U learn to love most of em. They seem to be good honest firearms, with not much to meow about.

LGS has a 39 (not 39A) on consignment that is color case hardened. CCH is still probably 90%, as are the blued parts, and wood. It a pre-prefix model (no S or HS in the serial #). Only down side is the wear on the lever. They're asking $2400.

A clean, vintage, 336A in 32 Special would pretty much complete my 'collection' of 336SCs and 336As.

There are several "ones" I'd be interested in at the right price. A friend has an 1894 in .22 magnum. I had a 336 Cowboy in .38-55 for a while. Wish I had one in .30-30. I had an 1894 Cowboy .32 magnum I sure wish I had back. Silly / stupid / incredibly fun. Tom

I have been searching for a 1952 336 32 Win for over 40 years. When I was a teenager my sister and I got in a car accident. My dad sold his prized Marlin to help pay the medical expenses. After he died I was going through his papers and found the receipt for it with the serial number. Been checking the numbers on every 32 special 336 ever sense. If I don't find it my oldest son will continue the search.

[quoteLove to fine one of the original Marlin 410 lever actions, found one a few years ago for 500, thought about it went got the funds, but it sold in the 15 mins I was gone! ][/quote] I had one for years and it was the best rabbit gun I've ever had. I sold it in a weak moment and it was years before I found another one. I'm hanging onto this one.

Don't expect to find another Marlin .410 at that price, that's less than half what a good one is bringing

I recently made a list of all my lever actions for insurance coverage. Attached is my list and some of them would be hard to part with but if someone was looking for a special one for certain reasons I would be open to trades or maybe selling. All of them are 95+% and most 99% condition. Take a look and if any are the ones you're looking for give me a PM. Would enjoy seeing everyone else's list too. Went back to a gunshow this am, to look for a 32/40 marlin musket I seen there yesterday. Of course it was gone; but it was worth going to look again. The book showed em to be quite rare

I'd love to find a 1894 in .41 magnum of any production model. All the ones I see would need a mortgage to buy them.

I don't have enough Marlins to start pursuing specific years...not a bad idea. I suppose if you are going to buy on the internet, you may as well make it a challenge.
I enjoy looking for them in the wild. I buy what I find.

Gentlemen
In reading the above I think I should let you know that I am listing some nice Marlins on GB.
These rifles are from LGS owners personal stash that he has accumulated over the years.
Among the rifles are 219 zipper, 25-20, 30-30,357,410, 22mag, 32-20,44.
Just a heads up.

Been looking for what I call my "creek gun" over the past few years, wasn't sure what I was looking for. A favorite pastime of mine is wandering the creek that borders my property and I usually carry an old h and r single shot in 22 hornet. I like looking for old marlin levers and was poking around the local pawn shop when I found a marlin 25 MB in 22 magnum. It cleaned up pretty good, stock is kinda rough but can be fixed. Put a 4x scope on it today and was able to consistently hit golf balls at 50 yards, plenty good for me. Think I found me a new creek gun.

Levermatic, model 62, .30 carbine. I need it for the trifecta - already have an M1 carbine, and a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine.

Can't remember if I was looking for it when I found it. I had previously had a couple of nice old 336 models. A '76 RC model and a really nice '67 Texan. And had been looking at the 336Y as a more compact version. But my little 30TK is "the one". It's pretty plain jane other than it's perfect configuration. And it's diminutive size and weight, achieved with Texan stock, 3/4 magazine, and 18.5" barrel, serves double duty by curing my itch for both a compact 30-30 and 1894c 357.
Had been wanting a 22 Mag for years when I picked up a nice 783. It's also "the one"...until I might find a smaller, lighter 22 mag for my "creek gun". And my near lifelong companion 39M is also "the one".
If I ran across a deal on an original configuration 22" 1895, or the Cowboy model with 24" octagon barrel, I wouldn't mind having a 45-70. Or the 410. But they'd never be "the one" like the other three are.
