I see where Hornady has introduced a DGX bonded bullet for dangerous game. The 300 grain DGX has a poor reputation in many hunting circles. Interested in seeing how the bonded bullet does. I used their 270 grain interlock SP in 375 Ruger to take a nice grizzly in AK. I'm in the planning stages on a Cape Buffalo hunt curious to see this shakes out. I like Hornady bullets overall, never had a problem with them. Bob

Bob,

I received their email today as well. I just returned from twelve days Zimbabwe using the 350 gr TSX in my 416 Rem M70 completely satisfied. I chose the 350 as I had plains game on the menu as well and the load shot reasonable flat out to 300 yards which was never needed. On the trip I spoke with three PH's and all were happy that I brought a 416 rather than a 375. That said, they know the 375 works but appreciate and noted the added thump of the 416's. All three had little use for the Partition or original Hornady DGX preferring the TSX but happy with a hunter showing up with a TBBC or A-Frame. My bull, at 110 yards, just rocked at the shot low at the crease of his shoulder, let out a grunt and began a wobbly step. When the other buff cleared allowing a follow up shot I put one through the lungs and he dropped. We recovered the first bullet just exiting the off shoulder and all petals were gone.

Very nice bull indeed. Good boss and hooks!

Congrats Ed,

My PH told me to use TSX's or A-Frames out of my 375 or 404 for Buffalo. Use whatever shoots best.

He prefers the 404 over the 375.

On one of the shows, Steve Hornady was talking about the new bonded DGX. Stated that it was not needed, but what the public wanted. crazy

I shot a bull elk at 200 yards with a 480 grain DGX a couple of years ago. The bullet came apart and changed directions about 45-50 degrees and was nothing but fragments left. Pretty piss poor performance. I was told this summer by Craig Boddington that they had finally bonded them. I don't think he cared for them but is careful with what he says for obvious reasons. I would never use them on anything but paper again.

Hard to figure why the DGXs weren't bonded in the first place. They weren't exactly intended to be deer slugs....
