Dewey its good to see you back posting. I bought a Brno model 21 h in 7X57 that was in super shape today. That is the answer to which is better between 270 win and 6.5 Creedmoor.

In that case a 243 with a 100gr Partition is even better. Don't dismiss it either. I have a 243 that has accounted for 14 elk with the Partition. Half of the elk killed have been by youngsters 12-17 years old. And no, we didn't pick our shots.............

And yes, Ive killed elk with it too...never felt underpinned. And yes, I LOVE the 100 gr. Partition....

Between those two, the Creed all the way for a person with a bad shoulder and neck. And, as others have suggested,the 243 would work nicely too, even on elk.

I think I'd go with the 6.5 CM. It seems mild mannered, up to the tasks specified, and has a ton of good factory ammo do it with.
I load for fun, but certainly would appreciate the convenience of picking up some boxes of factory ammo loaded with good bullets for a decent price.

That’s how I’m leaning, because of the quality factory ammo available for the 6.5 Creedmoor. Went down to a big-box retailer yesterday to check out rifle scopes and looked through the ammo aisle after I was done. I was astonished by the number of Creedmoor offerings and the great bullets they were using: 129gr Spire Point 143gr ELD-X 147gr ELD-M 129gr GMX 130gr Berger Hybrid 140gr Berger VLD 129gr Accubond LR 140gr Fusion BT 120 E-Tip 120gr Ballistic Tip 142gr Accubond LR 129gr BXR Matrix Tip 120gr GMX 129gr Interbond 140gr Game King 140gr Ballistic Tip 130gr Scirocco 140gr A-Frame 120gr Trophy Copper 125gr Extreme Point 127gr LRX That is an impressive selection! I’ll want to work up an accurate load for the 127gr LRX which, with its ballistics and expansion characteristics, should be about the perfect bullet in the Creedmore for these applications. However, any of these are completely fine for anything I want to do. If I end up with the CM, I’ll be checking several of these for accuracy, you can be sure. Especially some of the heavier, slippery bullets like 143gr ELD-X, 147gr ELD-M, 142gr Accubond LR, 140gr Fusion BT and the 140gr VLD.

In reading this thread the repetitive benefit of the 6.5 Creed is the lack of recoil. Since so many fire members are aging, shooting a cartridge lacking recoil seems to be desirable trait.....among others.
