I like the 45-70 version better

I count 13 models/caliber options on the Lipsey website. Alive and well.

I did not see a lipsey commemorate 45/70, must be another distributor exclusive. I wonder how many No'1 are available in total right now?

I'd love to have one but that's a lot of money to spend on one I'd want to shoot.

They waited too long to announce it the year is almost over. Just another Caliber Config from the past nothing to highlight the 50 years anniversary of the Greatest Single Shot ever developed. All you kitchen tables Gunsmiths keep you traps shut. All you do is screw up a Great Single Shot Hunting Rifle not meant to be anything else. That's my 80 year opinion.

I have to challenge this. IMHO, the "Greatest Single Shot ever developed"? My opinion: the Winchester 1885. After 132 years, still in production and more accurate than the No1. Even if you discount the modern 1885, which is crazy in my view. The origional run of 1885 was built in quantities and caliber choices unmatched by any other single shot. From 22LR to 50/110 in barrels 16" to 36". All this variety and production was not in the day of cool, novelty or collector guns.

I will agree with you , fourbore. As good as the #1 is, it’s a piker compared to the Low/High Walls and some of the great stalking rifles from England and Germany.

Lot of money for a rifle that likely will have mediocre accuracy. The four I owned were poor in the accuracy department.
I sure won’t be buying one.

Well it looks to me like someone at Ruger really screwed up this one. The No1 was introduced in late 1966 & put into production in late 1966 with the earliest ones shipped in Jan 1967.


Someone at Ruger decided to make 2017 as the 50 th anniversary year instead of 2016. Then they wait until the muddle of the 11th month to announce the 50th anniversary Model &

start shipping them. They chose a 1A Model in 308 to represent the 50th Anniversary. Ho Hum.

The announce list price is $ 2300.00 ? & they start selling on GB for the discounted price of $1695.00.

There were just three of the No1 50th Anniversary Models closed on GB without a bid at the discount price.

In my opinion wait about a year & Cabellas on another Distributer will be closing them out at about $1000.00

So much for the genius Bean Counters at Ruger at this rate they will be going bankrupt in a few years.

PS During all this time not one comment from any of the Leaders of the RCA, ROCS or any of the Ruger Forums who say they are the Curators of the history of the Sturm Ruger Co.
