For God so loved the world he gave us the one and only Jeep, that whosoever believeth in Jeeping shall not perish in the wilderness but have everlasting joy. Amen! Who here's a Jeeper? My '81.

Mine's sporting the full on 82 HP 4 banger. Bet that 401 makes quick work of spinning those big meats.

Here's my 1964 CJ5. I'm the second owner. Original paint, seats, etc. Runs like a top. This pic was on our elk hunt in CO this past September:

1995 YJ. 200k and bullet proof, very little has ever failed, mainly a couple of different leaks and general maintenance.

I'm on my third. The current one is a 2014 Wrangler w/ the Willis Wheeler Package. Put a Tru-Trac in the front Diff. Never understood how great they were for the desert hunting I do until I got one and took the doors off of it. There is nothing out there that does better. E

TC1, Your Jeep is to clean, I drive a 2005 LJ every day here on the ranch and it's always dirty, even after I wash it, have decided the mud and dirt are South Texas, camo. My last Jeep was a 93 unlimited, put 300,000 miles on it. replaced tires and brakes and serviced it every 3000 miles.
My jeeps never see pavement, just ranch use, you can,t beat a jeep for daily ranch work. Rio7

Ha! That picture was taken about 2 years ago and it's within minutes of finishing up the lift kit/bumper/fender install. If you'll look close you'll see the wheel well's aren't back in it yet. It hasn't been that clean since. I don't go looking for the deepest holes to stick in but I don't polish it up either. Mine fills the roll of hunting truck, mild play toy and daily driver. It's my only vehicle.

Super nice TC1. That looks perfect. The old ones lack alot, like security for hunting gear for one! Ride quality for two.

My 2012 JK, 3.6 V6, 6-speed manual, 4.10 gears. Aftermarket air-lockers front and rear. 1.5" Terraflex springs, Fox shocks. I use the heck out of this rascal! Took it to Alaska and back last spring for a bear & wolf hunt. It's a great little rig. Guy

I put ARBs and 5.38s in mine. kinda took it from daily driver and put it in trail rig catagory, but I can still run 65 or so on the highway.

I did mine with trutracs front and back, 3.73's and 35X12.5-17 tires. IMO 4.10's would be the perfect setup for the 4 WD and daily driving I do. It works great as a daily driver pulling about 2200 rpm @70 mph but I really need low range in 4wd to make it "happy" in the mud.

When they did mine. They had to enlarge the holes on on the rear Trutrac to accept the larger gear carrier bolts Jeep uses. I called ETON and they said it was common practice and my only choice if I wanted to use it on the rear. I ran the rear Trutrac and one bolt over to a local machine shop and they enlarged the holes while I waited. I think I $40-$50 for the job. The front one bolted right up.

The front one bolted right up. when I installed my ARB and 5.38 gears, I just punched the carrier holes out carefully on my drill press. I was pi$$ed because both the gears and carrier were part of a kit, but needed modified to bolt together. in the end, it was an easy mod and everything is working well. the kit was the Dynatrac Trail Leader package which included an assembled Pro Rock 44 front axle and axle shafts, locker, gears, and install kit for the rear. it was a bit of work but I don't regret it.

E I wouldn't have had a problem doing that if mine had a limited slip from the factory. Mine is a "base" model and they wouldn't let me add it when I ordered mine. They said I would have to step up to the next package before I could add a rear limited slip so for me drilling was my best option.

RIO7, Great looking rig you have there. I just my oldie unloaded and parked in garage. Its been sitting for 8 years outside and needs some attention I am sure. Kind of making up a list of stuff I think I should do. I am not a mechanic and really don't know much at all about jeeps. So here are the list of things I think I should do. If anyone has ideas, please add them.
1. Check brakes 2. Replace front and rear diff fluids 3. Replace tranny fluid 4. Flush radiator 5 .Change oil 6. Replace all belts 7. New spark plugs? Not sure on this one, it seems to start and run fine.
Any ideas from anyone on best way to clean engine compartment without messing up any electronics?
Thinking my best bet is just taking it to a reputable jeep place in Denver area. I did hit one of the fenders with a little rubbing compound and there is some good paint under that weathered finish. Going to make a fine hunting rig.

replace all the rubber under the hood, not just the belt. Rad and heater hoses, too. Dump a little diesel on the motor, let set awhile, and pressure wash the piss outta it. Do it to a cool engine, and keep the spray away from the alternator and dist cap, best you can. Let it dry out for a day before starting it and there will be no probs with electronics

Well, the Quadra Trac is a variable drive system that transfers power from front to rear as the system sees fit. Mine had the optional low range planetary gear addition which was nice, shift lever was under/in front of the driver seat. It is vacuum operated so be sure all that is up to snuff, no leaks etc. Mine wasn't very good on fuel but I wasn't real concerned with that. It was a solid 4wd setup that worked great for me. http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transfer-cases/quadratracYour Jeep should have an AMC 20 rear end which was plenty strong for mine with 3.55's a locker and 31's. The only other upgrade to the axles I did was to replace the 2 piece shafts with 1 piece axles after I busted a keyway on the 2 piece first trip out of that gate.
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.

Rio, lot of rubbing compound on the wheels. They cleaned up good. New seats are so much better too. And stayed 31" on wheels to not put too much strain on various old parts. K02s will hopefully do well.

30338, Not hard to tell you put some serious TLC into it, I looked at those seats yesterday at 4 Wheel Parts in town thinking about putting them in my black 05 LK was wondering if they can handle a lot of dog and people traffic please advise me on how they hold up. for now I'm going to put my old seat covers back on the 05, had the seats recovered last year just before hunting season started in sept, they are shot now. Just turned 100k, so youngest kid gets it this summer, she's buying a newer Jeep. No rust, leather int...............figure it'll be wrecked before school starts LOL.

I had a 98 ZJ for about a decade that had pretty much every part less the chassis replaced at least once. Here it is shortly before I sold it. Upgrades that I can recall 4.5" of lift, Clayton's long-arms HP dana 30 front with 4.56s, open Ford 8.8 rear with 4.56s, locked Built 4.0 (cam, head work, upgraded intake, header, etc.) Hanson front bumper with Engo ES 9k winch 285/70/17 BFG KM2s

Rio7 I went with the 36-38" waist size seats for motivation to keep working out. They seem like a quality product but we'll see how the hold up. Will be dogs in and out as well here. Will keep you posted on how they do. Bikini top eventually on it but these will get a lot of water and uv on them so hard to say.

So popped off the front and rear diff covers yesterday. Kind of nasty milk shake looking stuff in the front diff and rear diff looked more like chocolate syrup. No telling when these were serviced last. This was one of the reasons I didn't want to drive this one much till I got the fluids changed out.
Got the mating services all cleaned well and a new gasket for the rear. Going to attempt my first differential sealing later today. Have the diff fluid ready to load once those are cured. Next up is transmission and quadra trac fluids if it goes well today.

As with most Jeeps, "ain't no reason to change the punkin' fluids, they got seals on'm"
When I die I hope I don't start voting democrat.
