Decided that I was in the market for a couple of Savage carbines and found my Barrel Band in 250-3000 over a month ago. I also had found a SRC in 32-40 but needed to clear out some stuff to afford the dang thing. Well, here it is. Again I probably paid too much for it but when and where was I ever going to see another one? Used but well loved. Has the carbine rear sight on it. All the numbers match.

I wouldn't know how to put a value on a piece like that. My method would be asking how much and handing over the required price. WOW!!!

That's pretty much the nicest example of a Savage that has been posted on THIS forum in a long long time. No matter what you paid for it, it wasn't too much. Congratulations.

What is the parent case or eitiology of the 32 40? Is it the 30 40 Krag?

I paid 4K for a really nice one at the James D. Julia auction in March 2013. That might give you a clue as to it's value. I can't find pics of it right now. Mine has the wrong rear sight. David

Looks. Like it was a black powder cartridge developed by Ballard for target and hunting. A 33 40 pope wildcat was made from the 32 40.

Don't think I've ever taken a picture of the 25-35, much less all 3 together. I'll see about doing that, though might be a couple weeks. Deer season is pressing upon me and I ain't ready.. frown
