After sitting in the safe for 14 yrs I decided to bust out the CVA Hawken. Actually my 11yr old really wanted to shoot it and convinced me to get set up for it again. Man I’ve forgotten how much fun they are! Definitely more work and they’re dirty and smelly, but that’s part of the fun.

We started with mild loads, 50gr of FFF under a patched round ball. I made it to 80grs before we needed to bail for soccer. I think I’ll go back to the range tomorrow and find a good load. I’m definitely going to be bringing it Caribou hunting next year. Can’t believe I let it sit so long!

I love the kid's expression in the last picture. I need to dust off my left hand Renegade that I haven't shot in over 10 years.

That last photo is no doubt a family treasure. Love to see that look on a kid's face.

We had a lot of fun with it. It was good for him to see how everything works as opposed to just putting a loaded cartridge in and pulling the trigger. Right after that last photo he said "Dad, this is my new favorite gun"!
